your better off going to your local tuner and asking..cause everyone charges different prices...and about 500rwhp..the base kit with a ic can do taht I believe.

I had the base kit and pulled 475 rwhp with an fmic at 8 psi. The base 60-1 was choking. I would think that a GT67,fmic, with some upgraded valve springs with an otherwise stock motor should get you there.

The problem with the tuning is, the more I learn, the more I realize that a turbo car needs to be monitored at all times...which is why I'm learning how to tune it myself.

A lot. Looking at the following (this is an idea for you, as people seem to go slightly different routes for monitoring vitals, etc.):

The basics:
STS turbo kit: $3900
PCM Tuning: $450
255gph in-tank fuel pump (and wiring): $250
42lb injectors: $400
Stiffer springs (Comp Cams 918 or similiar): $175
Boost gauge: $50

Good things to add-on:
Fuel Pressure gaue or Wideband O2 (recommended): $210-450
FMIC or Meth injection: $550-800
Blow-off valve: $275

There's more. I had heat reflecting shielding I had to put on some pipes, exhaust work to make everything look good, and a lot of little nuts and bolts for a clean install. That was around $250 for all the misc stuff + the exhaust work.

So, looking in the neighborhood of $5500 installing yourself. Some of the sponsors (TRTturbo) sell package kits that hae all you need and are well priced. Installation is another $600-1K additional for the above stuff.....

Even with the parts listed, 500+RWHP isn't realistic, at least not on 5PSI. Meth or an intercooler would be mandatory and an electronic boost controller (another $250) to raise the PSI to 8 or so. That would get you towards your goal. Springing the extra $400 for the upgraded GT67 turbo is a good deal too. Of course, now the price is in the 6K+ range for everything......

I agree with Schantin. The 8psi FULL kit should run you around $6k out the door if you install it yourself and have it tuned for around $300-$350

If he wants 8#s, why not get a spring that doesn't open the wastegate up until 8# is there? Boost controllers are if the person wants to run 2 settings. Some of us do, some of us don't.

-I agree with Schantin- 500rwhp is pretty easy with all the basic stuff, ic fuel mods and boost controller, I made it pretty easy and thats with my own tune on an old stock motor, and I'm still learning. good luck

500rwhp = $1858.00

even less if u get a hookup on the to0ning

having FI for less then a full blown direct port n2o setup... priceless

I can get you help and find a dealer/sponsor near you... Depending on what HP range you want, if you have a built motor, ect..

just to clarify a few things though.. the basic kit, 60-1 .81 A/R, no front mount, @ 5psi was producing 420rwhp on an all stock motor. @ 8psi it was 505rwhp. The 60-1 will produce up to 620rwhp.. if you need more.. go to a GT67. You need 42# injectors, MSD boost-a-pump (or high volume fuel pump) and tuning, a Blow off valve if you have a 6 speed. there are other things you can add..

JustAnIlluzion.. im curious as to what you are using for your oiling system since you made your own kit.

what he said. DIY and save $3000.

you did forget a few things and the prices are a little low though.

a used 60/67 trim - $300-400
BOV - $200/ Wastegate - $200
silicone couplers - $100 (id use instead of welding all pipes in case of disassembly)
cold pipe - $200 to fab
wires/hoses - $100
some sort of PCV system/check valves - $50
oil pump - $200
fuel pump - $200

-Ebay IC is gonna cost $200 plus and at least $100-200 in fabbing pipes/silicone to fit

whats the $8 home depot controller?

They do have some sweet deals! http://trtturbo.com/F-BodyStagepage.html
I was referred to them by another guy on LS1tech. The entire fuel system, FMIC and the FULL turbo kit for $5k!!?? All you need is a tune and a BOV if you're an M6. They want $200+ for a BOV...I'm sure you can pick them up cheaper than that.

I've seen some competitor sale the exact same BOV for 300$! That's rediculous.

Does it have to be a "Tial" BOV? Do you have to buy NOS to have N2O on your car? No, there is ZEX, NOS, Nitrous Express, NX, etc, etc, etc... So, I'm not saying it's not a decent deal on that BOV...but you can pick up a nice used one for probably $100 or less...or a different brand maybe? Once place I was looking at sold one with the STS kit for $150. Not sure what the brand name was though...

So let me get this straight.. you DIYer's are putting regular front mount turbos in the rear and making your own rear mount? HAHAHHAHA talk about not having the right turbo sizing..

when are you reaching full boost? What psi are you using?

5k for a complete kit?? good lord.. thats expensive..

Run a search and you can get all the answers to your questions. $5k is nothing for a full kit. It's not DIY if they have already done the measurements and supplied you with EVERYTHING to do it with.
For me, I'm paying for the convenience. Screw stripping your car apart, not being able to drive it for weeks only to get all the piping back from some schmuck who claims to know how to do it and it doesn't fit right...so you find yourself compromising clearance, your character because of all the swear words you'll be using...etc. $2.5k for a true DIY for me = Good price, but possible horrible frustration, a lot of down time and extra time/money spent on something you'll probably do wrong anways. Paying $5k for it all to work right and something you can do over 1 weekend...I'm ALL FOR THAT! Seriously, what is ya'lls time and peace of mind worth? Mine is worth more than the extra $2.5k I'll have to pay.
