Audi story, not LSx

I'm a tech at an Audi dealership and we had a car come in last week. Symptoms of no power, I mean none, and no boost being registered from the turbo. This is in a 1.8 turbo. So we decided it would be best to pull the turbo and take a look at it. After pulling the Turbo we could see something wedged down inside of it. Grabbed some long nose pliers and pulled out AN INTAKE VALVE HEAD. Hmm, yeah, that would cause a lack of power. So time to tear the motor down. Funny thing is they drove the car into the dealership, over an hour drive, and it was registering no misfire codes.

Ah well, it was just kinda interesting to pull a broken valve out of a turbo, thought you all might enjoy.

Since intake valves are larger than exhaust valves, your story is not physically possible unless the intake valve head was mostly crushed before it fit through the much smaller exhaust valve opening.

Well, you have to remember this is a 5 valve motor with 3 intake valves and 2 exhaust valves so the intake valves are alot smaller than the exhaust valves.

I still don't know how it got through there even at it's smaller size. It is beat up very badly though, I could take a picture if you like. The customer has not authorized any more time for tear down and inspect so the car is just sitting here. I'll go take a pic and if you want post your email and I'll send it to you. Pics can't be sent till Monday as I'm going out of town straight from work.
