Default DIY Turbo help

hey guys. im toying with the idea of turboing my car (ls1 commodore) and was woundering how a single turbo running off only one bank of the motor would run. Has anyone tried this. Do you think there would be enough gas flow to spool up the turbo and create enough boost?? would the difference in backpressure between the banks cause any problems??
Any help would be appricated

why only one bank? youll spool faster with more exhaust gas.

You can't do it with just one bank. You have to use both banks as that is how it builds boost proportion to exhaust flow.

No, you can, my car runs one turbo with each bank and it would work, however its not a good idea to do with only 1 turbo.

I'm pretty sure my car would build boost with 1 manifold running a single and the other free dumping exhaust like a standard N/A car

You need to make a cross pipe that connects your two stock manifolds together then runs to the turbo, its cheap and easy to do even with moderate welding skills and a descent mig welder.

Yes, twins works, but only one turbo being feed by 4 cylinders will not pump enough air to feed all 8 cylinders. You can do a single, but it has to be feed by all 8 cylinders. The out-put on a turbo is proportionate to the input. You can't feed it with half the volume and expect it to pump the same amount. Physics won't allow it

You could try to build some kind of hybrid turbo with a compressor that is twice as big as the turbine, but still don't think it would work. Just not enough energy to power it from 4 cylinders.

I've done a few DIY kits. My site has some LS1 info.
