Default copper exhaust gaskets

i was thinking about running copper or alum exhaust gaskets and reusing them instead of buying new gaskets every time i take apart the exhaust, what do you guys run and is there any reason anyone would reccomend one type over the other?

I think the original GM gaskets are the best. Run 1/2 in thick flanges and you don't need to run gaskets at all.

I run copper for my exhaust pipe flange mate.

Copper is reuseable and seals great.

All you have to do is get it red hot and dunk it in water to make them soft (mallable) again.

Stove works for that.

dont need gaskets with 1/2" thick flanges? does that apply to turbo cars as well (specifically STS since most of the exhaust is in front of the turbo)?
also, i have a friend who tells me our exhaust flanges are different from the "standard". i guess this means we cant just buy a gasket off the shelf huh?
1 vote for copper, and 1 for stock. anyone else have an opinion/preference?

I blew several sets of paper and graphite/wire gaskets at less than 100 miles. I then switched to aluminum and they went less than 10 miles. Now I use copper and they work great. I think shim steel would work also.

Factory gaskets are the best I have used for seal and durability, but I have never used copper ex gaskets.

I like the Earl's Pressure Master Exhaust Gaskets. The inserts are pressed Graphite, like pencil lead, but you can trim them and they are replaceable and they last for a long time (>1 season). Available in different port shapes, sizes. Summit Racing.com

If you take it apart, you can just put in new inserts, for like $11.
