Default D1SC Folks

With my D1sc set up I go thru Spal extreme fans about once every 8 weeks. There is no space for dual fans. None. My car in Miami FL. runs continually at "220" degress on the gauge. (When I hook it up to a computer its actually about 170 with the spal fan even thouhg the gauge read at 220) If I run a stock fan the wires literally melt and fuse.

There are no electrical troubles. I am assuming I need to run a better radiator? Would a front mount intercool as opposed to the two bottom mounted ones I have make a difference?

Can someone give me some ideas?

Thanks,

Crystal

You might want to try the SDCE dual fan shroud set up. They made it specifically for D1SC setups, although it is kinda pricey. It's supposed to fit the stock radiator. You may also want to go with an SLP radiator as well. The stock radiator is only about 1" thick.

Also, someone on here added a Spal 9" along with the Extreme, so it can be done.

My guess is that having a front mount intercooler would make things worse. If you still have AC, the cooling air would have to go through the intercooler, then the hot AC condenser, and then the radiator.

Good luck.

Gary

I agree, you don't want an intercooler blocking airflow to the radiator. It seems strange that you are having as many problems as you are with a true temp reading of 170. Gary gave you some great ideas, I'd try the larger radiator first. Bob

I also run the LGM radiator with the Spal 3150 cfm 16" puller fan. With the single fan conversion in the Procharger kit, I keep burning wires at the fan. No matter how thick I go on the wire gauge, I continue to loose fans. Confused as hell right now. I just ordered the factory setup to go back to original. What causes the wires to melt?? Does anyone know?? Also what rate do the factory fans flow??

the joys of being blown

I will look into the options gary wrote. I mean if I return the 2 broken fans in my trunk which are under warranty I have a few hundred bucks to throw at the sdce dual fan shroud set up.

As for burning wires..... mine look like an ice cream cone dripping in the sun. That happened 2 times already. I have no idea why. I think its cause the motor on the fan had died each time and maybe that caused an electrical problem. Who knows... I'm no electrician by far.
