Maybe nothing, I'm not sure yet, I'm gonna have it looked at by a builder down in the area where my car has been 'living'....

I got what I thought (and what probably is) a newly built long block that was setup for a turbo. It was complete from cover to cover and had a return fitting already tapped into the pan. After some looking CAM decided to use my old oil pan since the return was in the front, and fit my existing setup. They took the oil pan off and found this:

Now, I'm told that cover was just thrown onto this new shortblock, but I was also told that the motor was good 2 go as it sat... so I'm gonna have a builder pull some more main caps and check things out.

well....76gts seems to be working well on my 366!.....thot it might be a little small, but performance is telling me otherwise. 76gts on a 346 should be perfect

well that scares me

i havent tryed to bring it above 15psi yet. with the cutout closed, the boost def drops off a little do to BP. 15psi seems to be the sweet spot, but i was hoping to go to ~17-18 if needed. i guess ill find out if i ever make it to the dyno. o well. im def not buying another 1500$ turbo anytime soon

edit: maybe u had better VE. what was ur head/cam/intake combo? im running afr 225s, stock ls6 and a cam similar to ur current one

That's weird. . . with 360 cid, I was able to get 24 psi from my T-76GTS. At 383 cid, I've been as high as 22 psi. On my current 388, I'm making 18 psi with NO spring at all in the 40 mm wastegate. I'm quite certain I can get over 20 psi with the spring.

By the way, when I fixed my exhaust system (switched from a 3.5" Aerochamber to a 3.5" Magnaflow), my boost went up by about 6 psi at any given wastegate setting. Maybe that's your problem.

Im 5" off the turbo..... 4" thru the K-Member and then just a 4" Bullet muffler....

we had extreme back pressure and 200+ degree intake temps..... swapped out the the S88 and no problems at all...was an animal
When the car had the 76mm turbo it would go to 14-16psi and not pick up ANY mph at the track...... when set to 20 or so it would spike so fast that only the data logger would catch it.... we checked valve springs and everything.... believe it or not the patriot Golds have better spring pressure then Comp 921's

Im just relaying what happened to me.
Thats what Jose thought also when i told him what my problem was....
Im sure Harlan can explain it better LOL

Kyle didn't the S88 pick up quite a bit of MPH over the GT42-76 at the same boost level??? I know Jose mentioned he thought you would at least gain 10-15mph, but I don't think I saw or heard what you picked up.

Yeah we did..... the GT42-76 at like 14-15 psi was running 126 mph..
The S88 at 13psi ran a 135 mph with a worse 60'.
both on C16.

At 20psi..... 124mph in the 1/8 and 150.58 running out of gear in the 1/4

I bet she can too... i know it has 155 in her..... were out of gear with my 3.73's out back... going to try a 29" tire on 20 psi..... should do 152 mph or so... and then there's more boost...... i cant see why i cant get 3-4 more psi out of it safely....

Correct, with Kyle's VE, that is the magic number, but its an estimate. You could squeeze a little more, but you'll need to run in independent Wastegate controller.

its wierd how turbo output varies from car to car. i should have no problem hitting 150s with my 76gts. it even has a small .81 exhaust housing. it had no problem hitting over 141, bouncing off the limiter with my rich *** tune, cutout closed and lack of tractioned 4000lb car at 14.5psi. guess im lucky.... i was skeptical on turbo choice.....
