Turbo ?

Is there a difference between a turbo from a diesel vehicle and one from gas vehicle ? The reason I'm asking is I told my friend that I was going with a turbo set-up in my 67 RS/SS and he brought back this turbo from his new job at Robertsons Ready Mix as a mechanic's helper. They gave it to him, no shaft play and everything spins freely . Could I even use this :

It doesn't look too bad, but keep in mind a turbo is one of the cheaper parts of a turbo car setup, my turbos total value are less than 10% of the total cost I have into getting my twin turbo setup done.

The looks like an HX35, is that what it is? I think that will be relatively small for your engine, and the turbo is most efficient in the 20+psi range, which I doubt it will produce on your engine. I think that turbo is better matched for a 2-3L engine.

I dont care if its dirty, but I generally try to stay away from used turbos.
just my opinion.

This turbo is a lot bigger than the pictures show ! I'm not really sure I want to use them though, I mean I don't have a problem using used parts its just I kinda think deviate42 is right about these turbo's boosting around 20psi cause they are built for a way bigger displacement that can push alot of psi with no problem cause they're built for torque to haul stuff !

Guys,
Gas engine turbo's = Diesel turbos with smaller A/R's.
We build turbos here and all the parts are made for diesels. They are just simply packaged a little different for gas engines. Anybody care to guess what a GT42 comes off of?? When Jose told me I laughed...hehe.
Also the turbo you have appears to be an HX or HY35 off a 5.9L Cummins Turbo diesel. Its only a 5Xmm unit. Also Holset's are old designs and spool relatively slow.
