It's a 35 pound chunk of aluminum. It would take serious pressure to hurt that thing.

it will definately make you more power with boost, I wouldn't consider the weight a drawback (very small difference) but the heat sink. The aluminum won't desperse heat like a composite will

This intake is basically a duplicate of the LS6 intake, although some test have resulted in performance being somewhere between the LS1 and the LS6 intake. The Weiand intake uses paper gaskets, which do not seem to seal as well as the factory O Ring seals.
If I was going to spend the money on an aluminum intake, I would use the Edelbrock Victor Jr that is designed for our LS engines. It is going to give each cylinder an equal amount of airflow, better than a stock based intake can. Bob

Default weiand

I have one on my car. Ive taken it off three times never had an issue with sealing properly. I am going to the Vic jr. though. It seemed to do well for me. right under 700 on a mustang dyno w/ 17PSI and meth. I never had an ls6 or anything else on it so I have nothing to compare it to. It is port matched though.
