I run a Niel Chance bolt together 10" converter. Holds super tight.

After the dyno pull, I logged a pass on the street ans still only got 14 psi. I turned it back up and the car is back to normal power wise.

I run 8.1:1 compression.

I will hopefully be running at the track in the next month or so. My guess is high 9's at about 145-150 ish. Hopefully the new converter holds this time!

I log the AFR at 11.3, tha dyno logged it at over 12:1!! Not sure whats up with that.

I launch the car off the trans brake. I am in the process of setting boost limits per gear. This will help my launch alot. 1st gear will not hold 16 psi real well! It will 60' a 1.60 on the 17's.

TT402LS1. I will be at a show this weekend on Saturday. I will P.M. you later.

So help me out. . . I'm pulling lazy 1.85 60' times because of turbo lag. Because of this, I'm stuck in the mid 10's at 143 mph. My old T-trim supercharged setup ran the exact same et, but at 10 less mph. I know I need a trans-brake, but my car is a true street car so I don't want a full-manual valve body. Does anyone know of a trans-brake that allows you to keep full-auto operation?

I am not sure if there is such a trans brake. When does your boost come on? can you foot brake a little?

The only pass I have with my turbo was in fall. I broke at half track. The converter started flashing to 7000 rpm and stayed there, I got out of it a few times but it kept doing it. Would not accelerate under WOT anymore. My new converter fixed this problem! It still went 10.50@137 with a 1.83 60'.(Took off to light, thought I would blow the tires off).

The boost comes on around 3000. I have a 2-step set at 2100 rpm. Any higher and it pushes through the brakes. At 2100 it's only building about 2 psi boost.

I tried foot braking, but again, I can only get a little over 2000 and no boost without pushing through the brakes.

I would make sure that you don't have a bunch of leaks in the intake pipes. That what it sounds like!

My opinion is that you need a higher stall to get into the torque curve. You should be able to foot brake to 3000 or so to get boost up. You have a very low stall!

I agree, but once my turbo spools up, it flashes to 5500 rpm. 22% slip on the big end!!!

Sorry for the hijack, BTW.

Sounds exactly like mine, except according to the logs after 5800 rpms or so my slip % drops like a rock when looking at mph vs rpm and comparing to a calculator. I've had the car to 141 mph at 6500 rpms in the log, the calculators say it can go 141 mph at 6500.

I'm at 143 mph at 6500 rpm, but with a 2.73 gear and 26" tires.

Mike, when you dyno the car, what mph does the car show? My blower TCT 'verter has been very efficient. 1.35 short times, 144mph trap speeds, and it showed 160mph on the dyno.

I'm not really sure why people are so scared of pump gas, 14 pounds of boost is going to be safe on pump gas with a good tune. On my old 360" motor with the T76-GTS I ran a 17 pound wastegate spring so that's the LOWEST boost I could run, and with the boost controller on it was 22 psi, and I got zero knock on an 8.5:1 motor. I could run just as much boost on the T88, but 22 psi overpowered the tires at pretty much any speed so I usually just left it at 14 psi on pump gas. My new 387 is 9.3:1 static compression, and I'm running 17 pound wastegate springs again and that's how much boost it makes on the street when I fill it up with 93 octane.

LS1 guys seem to be the only ones who will recommend 9.5:1 compression motors in forced induction applications, then be scared to run any boost at all.

Not all LS1 guys are advocates of near-stock compression. I'm an advocate of 8-8.5:1 compression for a pump gas FI car trying to hit over 700rwhp.

Not saying all of them, but I see a lot more 9.5:1 boost motors on here and corvetteforums then you would on turbomustangs.com or the corral. I'm trying to spec out an 8.5:1 forged piston/forged rod/stock crank motor for my wife's C5 with a Procharger, and a couple people have been trying to pimp a 9.5:1 or even higher setup on us.
