I have been searching here and there about painting my FMIC some import people say its no big deal and the loss in performanec is insignificant. I am looking to run a max of 9psi on the street with mine, what do u think?? is it worth not painting my FMIC black... dont want people to know I have one.

I wouldn't. Just my $0.02. Besides, turbo BOV operation or supercharger pully whine is hardly "stealth" in the first place.

You might also consider a light "fogging" of the FMIC. it will knock the shine down significantly without putting so much paint on it as to inhibit heat transfer.

You're going to change the amount heat that can be transfered if you use off the shelf paint.

There might be special paint that can be used.

Run a search on google for "heat exchanger" and "fouling factor".

I painted my FMIC with a couple light coats of Eastwood Radiator Paint, that is designed to conduct heat. No problems, and my temps are just what I
expected.

If you do it right, after it's painted the paint is only on like the front 1/16" of the IC core. When you spray it, hit the core with angled strokes from above or below - never straight on.

The tanks I used self-etching Eastwood Primer and Chassis Black, which has a matte (very little gloss) finish.

I like the idea of hiding it - makes it harder for the guy in front of you to see that you are packing extra power when he glances in his rearview mirror. Plus some cars look strange with a big silver thing there...

What about just using the mesh grille kits and painting it black, then just atatch that to the front of the intercooler. This way it can be taken off to sell or if you change your mind.

www.eastwood.com sells it as radiator paint. Read my post above for details.
