Default STS my car?

You think it'd be worth getting an STS kit with my mods below? How well will the cam and heads handle it? How much extra horse?

i agree with J&J......there is a 35th an. SS at a drag strip here in Va with a STS kit who he claims is "tuned" and its an automatic car, and i seen it run with my own two eyes at a best of 12.90.....no traction problems, ASR was off, i dont understand why his numbers were so bad? but that just put a bad taste in my mouth about the STS kit.....i have seen more than one ATI D1SC kit run great numbers.....id go with an ATI

Well my friend he probably wasn't either loading correctly or he needs a stall...I'm not really an STS advocate but my buddy has one on his car and it halls *****...He has a built engine and stuff and DOES have it tuned...With an auto I would more than likely go with a SC if you wanna keep it kinda stock and still have good street manners..

i would put my STS setup against any daily driver for manners, then run em at the track and show you they arent weak either. car runs normal until you step on it then you go like hell. as far as your set up not sure how the turbo would be with your head and cam, talk with STS or TRT they are very knowledgable about what the kit runs good with.

Guess the big question is what are your cam specs? Not sure what the MS3 ones are off hand.

As a comparison, I'm running an STS with a TR224 on a 112LSA. No issues. On stock heads I put down 426RWHP and 438RWTQ (SAE uncorrected #'s....it was 90 degrees and 90% humidity in Hawaii when dynoed.)

The heads will only help. I have stock ones on the car and a set of LQ9 heads in the storage room waiting to install.

The heads and cam will give the same power as before till about 3200-3400RPM. Then the turbo kicks in. The gain from the H/C setup will be decreased then, as the overlap will rob a bit of the intake charge under boost unless using a boost cam and the ported heads are not really a factor as air is being forced into the cylinders vs being sucked in.

Overall, should be no prob and work geat. I can smoke my dads modded 03 Cobra with my Z, and it's very streetable for DD activities.

Only 5PSI. I'm paranoid about blowing things up right now, as I leave for Iraq in a week. After I return and get the heads installed (I have TRT built LQ9 heads, just no time to physically install them now), I'll switch the wastegate spring to an 8PSI one. I'll also lean out the tune. I have it at a conservative 11.0 to 1 for reliability and to keep the wife from having issues while I'm gone.

From what I've read, most 5PSI STS cars are in the 400-430 RWHP range, with the 8PSI or so ones running in the 475-525 range.
