Default ATTN- Procharger users. any NOT using SDCE with success?

i was just curious to see if any body over 580rwhp was not using the SDCE...

if not what crank pulley and blower pulley are you using?

at what psi or pulley size did most of you encounter slippage?

im thinking about a mammoth crank pulley and a 4.0-4.2 SC pulley...

what do you guys think

im looking to make atleast 630rwhp through A3 12bolt and 408 just dont feel like dropping another 700$ if i can make it work...

i can get a crank pulley really cheap... i know some folks at ATI and i could trade my SC pulley im sure...

Ive got the ATI 8 rib setup and Ive got a 7.75" crank pulley with a 4.25" blower pulley which puts me at about 6#. No slippage issues here, but I'm only making 489 rwhp...

The highest I ever saw without an SDCE kit was 570ish. P1 with a 7.85 crank pulley and a 3.85 blower pulley. If I remember correctly it was stock compression.

Do yourself a favor and get the SDCE kit.....seriously.

Check out the TA on Bob's page at EPP.

I believe they had a little belt slip with the ATI 8rib, but they also made 700+rwhp on a mustang dyno at about 14-15lbs.

Dont cheap out there, I dont push a lot of products but its a must even though some will say otherwise. Even the 8 rib you have to tighten the crap out of the belt and everytime the car starts running a little off the first thing you will think is 'belt slip' so why even worry.

Thumbs up

22 psi from an F1 with an ATI 12 rib system (LT1). No slippage. Installed correctly with the proper belt.

We see ProCharger belt slippage with the eight rib belt when we get into the 14 psi range. When we removed the stock inlet hat and went with the aluminum 4" elbow with a larger filter, the slippage was eliminated plus it picked up two psi of boost to 16 lbs. Bob

The stock inlet hat and filter becomes a huge restriction that puts a big load on the blower. Once that restriction if eliminated the blower spins a lot easier. Bob

I run the ATI 8 rib with zero belt slip and zero belt dust. 7.625 crank pulley, 3.4 blower pulley, ~9.5psi, 621 CRWHP.

I would try it the way it is, and see how it works out. Keep in mind a new blower belt always stretches. We always retighten the blower when a new belt is installed after approx .5 hr. Bob

Also I forgot to mention that I run a Reichard blower pulley. If you are concerned about belt slip, a Reichard pulley can make a huge difference over an ATI pulley.

Dyno and dragstrip are two different things, that 7.625/3.4 will be spinning that D1 over max at 6800 rpm and I can guarantee it will slip in 1st gear. If all you care about is dyno numbers then it will be OK.

Reichard pulley will help a lot.

I wont say any more about it except 'I told you so' shortly after you get it running

what would you think about running a large crank pulley ~ 8.5'' or so and a larger blower pulley to help with the slip?

mabey a 8.7 CP and a 4.0 BP revving to 6800?

i can get a crank pulley dirt cheap cause i know some ATI guys and the blower pulley i could get from RR for extra grip and it might total me 200?

That setup would spin the D1SC at 60639 impeller RPM @ 6800 crank RPM. Max is 62000, so you'd be running at 98% of max... Cutting it a little too close IMHO because if you overrevved to 6950RPM, you'd be up to 100% max impeller speed...

(BTW- kp is right. At 6800crank RPM with a 7.625/3.4 you'd be at 62525 impeller RPM...)

We've never used a SDCE bracket on any of the cars we do.Many are 650-700rwhp It's all belt alignment.
