After I seen the amount of aluminum shavings that were inside my oil pan after I drilled and tapped it, I would not advise doing it with it on the car.... The oil pan isnt that hard to take off.

I was hoping that I could stuff a rag in behind where I am drilling since the oil pan will be lowered a little during the cam swap. Maybe I should just go ahead and pull the pan off.

no never used a restrictor again, i called the turbo manufactures and asked their opinion on it and they said the oil pressure an ls1 gives would be fine in their range.

Sscam68: that right angle is rising the return point versus having it on the side of the pan. plus all that oil sits in the return line when things arnt flowing keeping some oil backed up in the turbo.
my first hand experiance with it was that it caused it to smoke,

The pan is IMPOSSIBLE to drill if it isnt taken off. The ONLY place to drill is like the first pic with the 90* turn up. I looks and tried everything to drill it without taking the pan off. Not happening. I got the pan off easy. Only took me about 30 minutes, but I didnt have the tranny in either.

TTi recommends placing the fitting on the side of the pan on the drivers side about 1/2 way from the front to the back. TTi hasn't recommended the return going into the bottom of the pan for a few years... Oh, and Bill You are an idiot.
