Default STS Help

Why is oil spraying out of the pcv filter when I hit boost? I'm running 8.7 lbs. I noticed after I run my car that there is oil everywhere and its comming from the pcv valve that came with the kit. What is going on, is it a bad valve or is this normal.

make sure the wire that grounds the switch valve is ATTACHED to your switch vale, not on a bolt on your valve cover. This wire IS ALREADY grounded and when connected to the post on the switch valve grounds it. I Made this mistake also and have ZERO oil issues since i hooked it up right, good luck.

I'm not sure what valve it is, but it looks to me like it can be bypassed, has anyone done this?

You definantly need a check valve in your PCV if thats what your talking about, otherwise your scavange pump will be pushing against the pressurized crank case, which is just bad.

on the STS kit there is a 1 psi switch that goes on the rt side of the eng bay wire haness, it has two functions, first it makes the oil scavange pump go from low setting to a high setting, 2nd it activates the pcv switch to scavange press off the top of the engine. this only happens when your boost is above 1 psi. if not hooked up correctly your oil scavenge pump and pcv wont work, i know from first hand experience. i picked up 2 lbs of boost and i dont have an oil leak from pcv any longer.

here is a pic of the valve that i'm talking about. Its to the left of the oil pump. There is a little filter that attatches to it and thats where its leaking oil.

All that is, is a switch valve. There is a Hobbs switch (pressure switch) that turns the pump on high and activates the switch valve. You can take the vacume line off that runs to the switch valve and with the car running, blow into it. You should be able to feel the valve switch and hear the pump turn on high.

And if it dosen't turn on high I assume that means the valve is bad.

Did this just all of a sudden happen? Or did it happen right after you put the forged motor in? If you have verified that the pcv valve is working, then it could just be normal blowby or the motor (doubtful, but possible)

I checked the ground and its fine and yes it started doing it once I put the new motor in and ran more boost. I have not tested the swith yet so i'm hoping thats the problem. Thanks for all the help guys.
