I'm in too, but only if they are in stock at the time of a GP...

But whatelse are the benefits? Quicker spool? Lower temps......just trying to keep this on topic so it doesn't get moved to the GP request forums..

The lower temps I can believe, and I guess I can buy the quicker spool time (from retaining the heat in the housing). Can anyone quantify these though? Are we talking 50 degrees lower temps, or 150? Also, would the decreased spool time be noticeable by seat of the pants?

The way I see it, as hot as that housing gets and you know it radiates some serious heat, any measure to keep the heat down is worth it, especially for only $100 and when the turbo is right next to the block or radiator, every bit helps. $100 is small change in this game. I found out the hard way....

I have my housing coated and Ill be running a blanket.

Good points Carl.

Now my main concern is how much/how bad will this affect oil temps? I would think if you are keeping heat in the housing it would be easier to thin the oil.

Do any of you guys run an engine oil cooler?

Do they make a turbo blanket for a GT55?

I was told there is non made for it, and even if it is, I might not be able to run one since I hear they are pretty thick and Ive got about an inch of clearence between my radiator and and the turbo.

Are these blankets made to fit a specific housing? Or they basically a universal item?

I talked to Jose and he is doing another large order from the blanket company. They are slow, but he is going ahead and getting another 20-30 blankets........ I contacted him already and told him I'm in either way.

We are working on getting pricing for you guys, but the manufactures aren't giving us much room. Also they have been slow on delivery so we are buying all up front extras to have on the shelf for you guys. Also the blanket is a universal fit, it will fit from a standard T4 58mm-80mm and can stretch enough to even work with a PT88 which I have on my own car. It will work on a GT42 as well but only the T4 housing. The bigger thumper turbos it will not work on. We have been trying to get something for the thumper units for sometime, but the manufacture has been dragging and doesn't seem very interested. So we are working on our own. Standard pricing is 139 + shipping, and the manufacture says if we buy enough we can do 129 shipped to everyones doors, which will save about 20 dollars off. We are trying to get better pricing, but their is not much markup from them.

Is a gt55 considered a thumper series turbo? If you guys did make a turbo blanket, would it fit considering theres about an inch or space between the radiator and the turbo?

The cheaper blankets are probably just for the hot pipes themselves (usually for up pipes and DP'S). $130 for a turbine blanket is a pretty good price from what I've seen.

Yes guys, the prices for most blankets are 175 from other sites. The 75 maybe for a T3 blanket, but its really not much of a blanket...and more like a shield. Also the GT55 is considered a thumper since its a 91 and the frame size is large.
