I need to know the max amount of boost (with tuning) a stock LS1 can handle, and what HP/TQ would that amount to?
Us N/A v6s guys(the ones not built for boost) can handle 7-10psi fine
thanks
of course psi doesnt mean much, cfm is more important
this supra guy is talking about how a stock supra can handle 1000rwhp easily.

Stock Supra internals have indeed seen above 800 rwhp but it's not the norm to run them that hard without upgrading, especially for routine track racing... Very well built bottom end from the factory, as is the case with many cars that come with stock forged internals... But that whole "easily" thing is a gross exagerration. Running a 150 shot just to spool an oversized turbo with race gas is not "easy" to me. I mean, it's 1k rwhp... It's not gonna be easy on ANY car!
That's ridiculous.
A stock LS1 block can handle 500-600 rwhp but not without taking small risks on the pistons... then the stock connecting rods... then the stock crankshaft which has reliably seen over 800 rwhp on some LS1's, and then the block... But yeah the stock pistons are the weakest link on LS1's, motors not intended by the factory for boost. However, that is easily remedied. With forged pistons, LS1's can hunt down many Supras. It's not that expensive to build up a forged stock displacement LS1, IMO, either.

It wont be cheap either route you go, but going w/ an LS1 and a single turbo would probably net you cheaper then a Supra engine especiallly a MkIV 2JZ.
Stick with the LS1. Power will be better and more useable, and potential is there no matter what engine you're using.
