I run the Madman rack and skinnies and you don't even notice that power steering is gone.

So do I and it's a PITFA. I'm worried that I'm going to bend my steering shaft everytime I turn my car from a stop!

BTW what's the time frame on your car? It was looking good when I was there.

I made a bracket once for a guy to mount it on the driverside head, he had his PS removed.

You must be working out lol, there is quite a difference between power steering and a manual rack even with skinneys.

would it be fine just taking out the pump? how do you loop the lines or whatever? will it be easy to put the pump back on? im not worried about drive-ability at all i just want to put it back together right if i can.

Sure you can just take the pump off and loop the lines, but its very hard to steer unless you swap to a real manual rack. I just leave the PS on mine, with a procharger you cant do the short belt and from what I read it only takes a couple HP to drive the pump..

ok cool, thanks. did they ever make an f-body with a manual rack? i was thinking i could pic one up from a junk yard or something. i hear the madman rack doesnt work for bigger rims/tires. i want to do 17's with 275's up front.

KP, manual racks turns 100 times easier than a PS rack that's looped. I could barely turn a looped PS rack.

100 times? I doubt that lol. I have had them on two cars so I can be a pretty good judge. They are easier then a looped stock rack (which is what I said) but they are nowhere near power steering like, if it is you may not have any positive caster in your car

ty-ty, I'm not wrong, I just meant the short belt alone wont work. I made an idler pulley off the hex on the lower standoff with a P1SC setup three years ago. I would do it on this car but I cant justify 600.00 for 8lbs and lighter then stock steering components on a 3400lb front heavy car..
