Question Need A TURBO or S/C ????

I have LT1 auto and I want to buy turbo, which kit should I buy and the car will be mostly daily driver. Its stock engine only hot cam, ported intake, ported head air flow only, full exhaust, shift kit. What should I change and how much it will cost? my goal is to hit low 11's super street car. And don't forget for hot weather

the skys the limit. Search around here for setups and what seems to fit your goals. once you find something that you like, then return for any new questions you might have. Otherwise we'd be here all day talking about combinations of this and that because these kind of threads come up daily.

If you plan to keep a stock engine..than none of those will be good. However..on a stock engine a guy went 11.03 with a t-70 on 10psi...but his motor let go during the second run. A forged bottom end with stock heads/cam..would easily get you that with a turbo....And how much will it cost?? Alot..even with an STS..id say all said and done...would cost you around 10k....(properly set up of course)..dont forget about..clutch, fuel, rear end,suspension..10k is low..but possibly doable

if you stay stock bottom end I wouldn't go over 6-7psi, any moreand you'll blow your motor. Remember you can always use n2o too, but be careful and you'd definitely need to upgrade that fuel system. Also the pushrods and valvesprings would have to be swapped if you haven't already done so. If you don't you'll be replacing your valvetrain after the first time you run it.

http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...tCar.php?car=7 Check it out!

Car has 50 documented 1/4 mile passes. Only 5600 miles! One owner with all original paperwork. Still smells new inside.
We put an ATI ProCharger P-1SC at 9 psi on this car approx four years ago. The internals of the engine are still stock, and have never been touched. The car has Hooker headers and exhaust, and runs consistent 11.32's in the 1/4. Bob

This has come up a lot in the past year, this type of question. Besides ENORMOUS amounts of research, I would say two things...

1. Figure out the goal/purpose of the car
2. Set a budget.....to get a proper setup done you are talking $15k +

There are countless ways to achieve power, some are cheaper, some easier. It all comes down to what you want to do with the car and how much you are willing to spend. You want to build the car around a goal.

"Speed is addicting, how much are you willing to spend?"

Good luck

My intial add up of what my turbo cost was
$4783.98

That is done right. So add in the little thing not taken into account with that price such as hi-temp coating and the little things and your about $5000 done good.

This is me piecing everything together and getting the best deals I can.

I think most people spit out the 10k figure because they dont want you to get pissed when you have spent 4-5 grand over what they said it would cost you.

Look for deals, take your time. You can make a nice turbo setup for about $5500 and be done right. But remember... start breaking stuff and the price goes way up.

breaking stuff is the thing. A stock fbod isnt built for 600hp or even 400hp for that matter. A decent rear end - $2k, fuel - $1k+, suspension $1.5k, clutch $1k, maybe built t56 or def should consider built 4l60 when big power is happening. And dont forgot a forged bottom end $$$. Thats where all the money goes....

id venture to say you spent $4700 on the turbo kit alone, right? which is still IMO a good deal all said and done.

Nah I think its because we (those that have spent much more than 10k) have hindsight enough to know if we did it all over... we could do a 600HP build for around 10k.

I think that is experience talking IMHO.... Oh and I have spent over 24k on two seperate iterations of my build... Didnt know what I was building to the first time... so I am doing much of it again.
