Default Power differences between truck manifolds and headers

I would like some opinions (or evidence) as to if there is a power difference between using truck manifolds or headers on a turbo kit. Basically wondering if headers are worth the extra money, or if the cast manifolds can do just as well for much less overall cost.

Can somebody tell me what the outlet diameter is on the manifolds?

Anyone replace the standard manifolds for truck manifolds in something other then a front mount setup? (Like a rear mount) Side by side performance difference of the two?

Another nice benefit (IMO) to the truck manifolds is that they are cast.

My research said that headers would make more power overall and the power would come on sooner.

I did truck manifolds because I was curious as to how well they work.

i think the durability factor plays into this aswell making the cast manifolds the way to go

I have heard this before. Can somebody explain why this would be?

I agree on the durability point.

Turbos spool faster when there is pulsatile flow hitting the turbine. Equal length headers can keep the exhaust pulses seperated longer than the truck manifolds thereby increasing the pulsatile nature of flow that the turbine blade sees. This is part of the same reason that a twin turbo can spool faster than a bigger single. All eight pulses hitting a single turbine washes out the pulsatile flow.

flowing through a manifold or a header its still going to see 4 pulses, and I dont see what difference it makes being seperated when they all hit the same target anyway.

I would think the less volume of space before the turbo would make it spool faster, having headers making it flow better is only going to take longer to pressurise that extra space. Its not like having headers is going to make it flow better when it all gets condensed and put through a 2"x3" restrictive hole anyway. Flow on the otherside of the turbo is what you want optimized.

Low 8s on manifolds...what more could you ask for?
