I've seen a 1.06 A/R GT4088R push nearly 800 WHP in a FWD car. I don't think 700 would be too much of a strech for one in a RWD car with a standard. They may have small-ish inducers, but they still flow quite a bit of air and will make a lot of power.

So
unless he was thinking a gt55 meant a 55 trim, that would make sense.

Good, then 700ish rwhp is not as much as my 800+ish.

So

This issue is that the shaft breaks with motors over 3.5 liters. (GT-55)
A standard PT91.5 would work fine.
I have spoken to several racers and vendors that have had this issue.
We were going to put one on a 272ci motor and were told to not even consider it. Why don't you talk to your boy Jose and get the information before you come on here and make your self look bad. BTW I would not even run GT-40s on a v-8. I will have twin GT42s on my Stage 2 Buick Motor. The car I work with went 7.9s with a stock suspension at 3450lbs last year, I guess your check book of knowledge owned me.

BTW I do really like your car, but you should not be judgmental towards someone that you don't know.

was that directed towards me or Kyle?

Im sure that Garrett would have mentioned something to Futral before he put it on my car if that were the case though. The car only has about 2k miles on the new setup, but everything is holding perfectly fine as of now, with no signs of anything related to what you spoke of.

and what about the thumper sized setups? are they not made for anything over 4.0 liters and above, or is that only applicable to the gt55 specifically?

Sorry for the tone of my response.
I am not sure why my contribution to the discussion was attacked instead of questioned.
I have been working on GNs and other race cars for more than 15 years.

I think the reason it was attacked is primarily for a few reasons :

1. low post count.

2. no reason explaining why it would be a bad choice.

Now that you've defended yourself, I'll let the other people who know what they are talking about jump in

Sorry I was a little upset with Kyle but I am over it =)

This problem is only the GT55.
I will PM you my number if you want to talk in detail about this.

It is a fairly new turbo though correct?

What instances have you heard the shaft breaking on?

I havent heard anything about it, other then some supra guys running these setups on their stroker motors.

Post count is in no way proportional to knowledge or experience.
Unfortunately some times it is the exact opposite.

I think Harry Hruska (owner of Precision Turbo) had posted like 5 times on turbobuick.com, he will forget more than I will ever know. I know Kenny Duttweiler and to my knowledge he has never posted. These two guys have 5 posts put together but wrote the book on what we are all trying to do.

I don't want to go into huge detail for personal reasons, anyone is free to PM me or give me a call. I will try to help anyone I can.

John it was questioned by me, not attacked. Just answer with a lil more than a couple word reply, that way to bypass the problems and negativity. Most of us including me, dislike when people just spout out and answer with no explanation why, kinda leaves us hanging. There is a few of us here that like to understand why things work or won't work.

Low post count had nothing to do with it, just the way you gave your answer.

Glad to have your input here, but as far as your name goes thats all we "knew" about you and you're experience.

Haha a blintze are we dating ourselves?

Any twin GT40 cars in the 7's? The GT55 is powered cars into the sevens. I believe the GT55 is rated for 1400hp or more.

That right there is the reason i responded the way i did. Alot of people come on here.. esp young kids and make bland posts such as your first one coming from out in left field... that is why i said that.
If your first post would of been like your others i would of never said anything like that. For that im sorry. Im been dealing with a few people like that latley...
I hope u do post more and bring more information that others can use to our forum.
Thanks 4 the complament.

Kyle
