Spoken from somebody who's never been around a bodyshop. The car would be deemed a total loss. That's an easy 10K-13K hit if somebody were to pay out of pocket. There's 3,000 in paintwork alone without even touching any of the parts or labor.

My thoughts on the tracks. VMP & Richmond are both redneck *** tracks. Both have shitty prep except VMP does pretty good for a big event, T&T nights etc and it sucks. VMP does have 100X better facilities though.

I would rather drive the 4 hours from Virginia Beach to Haggerstown or 75/80 than race at Richmond.

Running on slicks in a fast car feels like skating anyways, now toss in the Richmond bumpy, pot holed, loose gravel on big end and it's a downright scary ride.

I've been following your car for a long time.such a shame, glade you came out on top though. get a new car because your old one will never ever drive the same. If I were in your shoes..I'd go rx7, but that is because I love them and used to own one. Either way, you know you'll have the safety equipment, so either car isn't safer than the other.

Do what you can...David. I first saw your car and it was awesome. I am glad you are alright but no should be too worried cause MightyMouse always comes back on top. Depending on your budget here is what you should do. Dont put anything in a import. Dont like them and never have. I like your car the way it was and a rebuild on the car would be great. If not put everything in a 3rd gen or the 97 firebird or something. Best of luck and anything you do I am sure everyone here is behind ya.

Seriously the RX7 would be insane. Considering the costs of getting a 'Vette roller I'd start with the RX.

RX7 for the win!... 2,800 pounds + 800 rwhp =

Dave, man I'm glad to hear you are okay. sorry about the car I didn't even see this till the other day. I've been through something similar with my 99 trans am that got wrecked.
I now have a 2001 trans am that is a lot better than the 99. we all learn what to do on cars and what works and i know that your new car will be faster. can't wait to follow it from the beginning

Same here. I had a radial skinny and a bias slick on the back and used two lanes of traffic making WOT tuning passes on my car. I can't even imagine what it'd be like w/ a big *** radial up front.

if anybody has any good estimating skills i would really appreciate it.. ive never been involved with body repair before and really have no idea.
Not a pro, but just based off the pictures, I'd say you're gonna spend a fortune untangling that car. Can't say for sure without seeing what happened to the unibody and floor/firewall. If it were me, I'd get a V6 roller and start over. Looks like everything from the firewall forward is shot anyway.

Glad you got out of it unhurt. I've seen far too many nice cars get wadded up on a wall in the last few years.

what i was thinking.

but also you can easily go someone and they will pull out the frame back to normal, its all electrical and to the factory specs. my dads car was hit on the side, and they pulled it out back to normal. after the car was fixed you couldnt tell the differance. but he also wasnt at a strip when it happend..

Damn Dave, that sucks ***. I wouldnt bother trying to fix your car, it would be better in the long run to go ahead and swap to another unibody. Who knows what metal fatigue you may have that will rear its ugly head when it gets on the frame machine. And at 140mph, a slightly tweaked frame becomes a big issue.

If you find a rolling chassis you want, let me know - ill get a trailer and we'll take a road trip and pick it up. The truck pulls well, so it should be a piece of cake. The trip will be my treat.

Might be a good idea to get a 10 pt installed before you even start work on swapping stuff over.

Give me a call if you need anything.
