You do realize there are about 100 posts about this! MLS seem bulletproof.

We use mls until they won't hold, then copper from there.

About how much power are you seeing before they let go with the cometic or mls's?

Im fixing to go down this road and was suggested to use the cometics.

I wanted to O-ring and receiver grove the block and heads and run the coppers but was told they didnt hold up very well for street applications. This would be a good answer from your side if you dont mind.

Im shooting for a radical street car in the 1000-1100 rwhp range.

Kurt, just curious which coppers you're using? I used Flat Out coated gaskets, with an O-ring in the block, no receiver groove in the heads, and its been holding just fine for over a year of daily driving on low boost. No water where it shouldn't be. I'm curious how it'll hold up when the wick is turned up.

I think the mls will hold well to 1200hp at the flywheel, maybe more if the tune is spot on. Mike Brown is running mls in his CE. I would guess he is between 900-1000rwhp to run 8.50@high 160's. He is adding water on every run. On a copper head gasket we also need to add water at the higher power levels, but they don't get worse, you can keep going rounds. The newer blocks may help this problem in the future.

We normally use SCE. The Flatout is a very nice part also.
The Nova runs low 9's@ 3800+pounds with copper(LS2 block/Allpro head), and I drive it alot. No water needs to be added at anytime but the boost stays around 20psi, and thats only at peak rpm(blower). I think you can push it pretty hard before you start to see water loss.

Thanks for the reply.. I imagine this one won't ever go past 18 or so peak to reach the set goals, power should still be usable on a street car after all. At 10 psi this thing already makes mince meat out of a radial tire.

Kurt,
with the coppers and upper HP motors, are you guys using single with a reciver groove or double o-ring setups?

I have to concure, MLS are only good to 1200 hp or so.. after that you will have to step up

My current MLS gaskets have seen 26psi on the dyno. My last set saw 21.5 psi a few times on the dyno but mostly saw 18psi.
