Default Few questions on STS kit.

I have few questions on the kit.
1. How well does this kit work on a 100% stock 99ws6 i know it would need pump injectors and tuneing. But i would like to keep everything eles stock manifolds cats and everything eles like that.

2.What kind of mpg do you guys get with a 6speed car cruising down the highway with the sts kit.

Basicly want a 400hp in a car that drives and sounds stock. Go drive the other car if you want loud spool and hard as hell to drive.

I've got 5psi, 42 injectors, recetronix pump,918 springs, hardened push rods, and tuning. I'm at about 18/25 though I'm running a rich right now. On the highway in 6th with the crusieon at 80 it still takes a big hill to get the turbo to spool even 1 lbs.

It won't sound stock, since there is no muffler.

if you only want 400hp, just put a cam in it and tune it.

I agree 400rwhp is WAY to low of a goal for FI... If you want 400rwhp get your bolt ons and spray a 150 shot. You'll reach your goal and then some.

Well i dont want any nitrous on the car. Dont want to have to keep a bottle in the car. My other car has gas in it. dont want a cam just want it to idle nice and smooth. Just want more power for some highway rolls or something like that. Trying to stay away from makeing it like my othe car.

If you are wanting around 400, no nitrous, no cam, good mileage, then the STS is perfect for you. With the basic kit, pump, injectors, and good tune, you should be at 400rwhp. If you think you will be doing alot of longer highway pulls, you should do an intercooler too.
I had the kit on my stock 6 speed '02 Formula and usually got 29mpg highway.

The kit will work fine on stock car (my friend that I got my STS from had it on a nearly stock 02SS). But, there's more to do that just buy the base kit and slap it on.

You need the following at a minimum:

TR6 plugs
better pushrods and springs (CC918's and hardened 7.400 pushrods)
fuel system upgrades (I use a Racetronix 255 in-tank + hotwire kit)
TUNING (can't emphasize that enough)
Blow off Valve (for a 6-speed)
Some custom welding (to attach the turbo exhaust to the I-pipe properly)

I would also highly recommend adding the following for a daily driver:

FMIC (TRT's is what I have and it works very, very well.)
Boost gauge (so you know what the heck the turbo's doing)
Wideband A/F controller (to ensure the cylinder AF mixture isn't going stupid one way or the other).

The above items + all the misc tapes, sealants, etc to make it pretty will run about $1500 over the base kit price of $4K. This makes it about the same cost overall as the Vortech or ATI (for the most part).

I'd personally recommend contacting Billy at TRT. They have some nice package deals and are super nice people to deal with. Their customer service is A+.

Hope this helps.

Ditto....... then start thinking about a clutch upgrade for a M6, and and full out build if you have an A4.

Then as some point you will need a rear end if you bolt anything sticky on the back and do a hard launch....... This is from personal experience. Driving for a buddy of mine that has an STS on his 2000 Formula MN6 at the track.. Did a good burn out with drag radials, launched at 3500 rpm with his exidy twin clutch setup and the car moved about 2 feet. It broke the left axle in two right at the splines in the center section.

Boost is a drug......... the more you get, the more you want And as the old saying goes "speed costs....... how fast do you want to go"

And yes, Billy at TRT is great to deal with.

i know about all all the added stuff needed to make the kit work. And all the things that ends up happening. I just was makeing sure if i went with it i would still get good mpg like i do now when on a drive last weekend and got 30mpg. I have a extra clutch laying around and 918 and some pushrods that came from my other car when i upgraded it. But this car will never see sticky tires or anyhting like that.
