go turbo... it gives you more options for growth later. there is only so much a head and cam car can make. start with the basic turbo STS kit 5psi makes about 420 rwhp then build your car up and later turn up the boost . everyone talks about the money and it is a factor, but the bottom line is it sounds like your going to spend the money one way or the other. might as well go with the kit that allows you growth later on when you get the rest of the car up to the power level your looking for

Yeap.... Although I think Billy's kit comes with AFR gauge and Boost gauge in Dual pillar setup... (Not as good as wideband but ok if he stays with 5-8psi)

im not trying to challenge, just learn. exactly what have you spent 12 grand on? im saving, and getting ready to have 60 hours/week winter and summer break to get the ofi kit. i see just to get it on ill need the kit plus a tune, fuel pump, 60lb'ers, 918 valve springs and a ls1 timing chain. all i want to make at the moment is 500rwhp/500rwtq on a stock block with no meth. i know im nieve converning fi but im trying to learn. im turbing 20 in a few months and i hope to buy the ofi kit for my 21st bday. ive got tires, a wideband, mild suspension, and to keep me happy at the moment ive got a nitrous kit, which i can probly sell to rinance the springs, fuel pump and timing chain. im looking to spend about 6grand to get the kit on the car and going. of course, ill be spending at least 100 bucks on pizza and beer for the install team.

I have turboed a car. From scratch, built everything. Heres my breakdown. granted I did all the headers, piping, fabbing, and tuning myself. You can add $5k for that if you wish.

Turbo- GT45 new -----$750.
Tial BOV---------------$200.
Tial 44mm wastegate----$350.
Inovative WB------------$350.
Intercooler---------------$300.
60# injectors-------------$400.
HP tuners + 2 bar---------$600.ish (more than someone to tune it)
V-band clamps------------$150.ish
Headers and all hot material
and flanges------------------$200.
cold side material, elbows, air filter--$200.

Fuel pump & lines & reg.----------$500.ish
Edelbrock intake and fuel rails-----$400.
Cam (used)-----------------------$200.
pushrods--------------------------$100.
Valve springs----------------------$200.
PCM-------------------------------$100.
6.0L heads (minus $100 for sale of 5.3 heads)---$200.

Ok thats $5200. I have into mine.

So add maybe $2000. Just cause someone put it in a kit for for you (fabbing parts). and $3000 for labor of someone installing it all for you.

Total comes in around $10,200.

$24k is a little high for a turbo setup. even with upgrades to the car.
Maybe if you baught a $12k engine. but then again whats in an engine that could possibly cost that much?
