what converter for turbo setup?
the car is a 97 TransAm with-
383ci
76mm turbo
9" rear with 4.10 but my switch to 3.73
th400 trans. brake
car is 3500lbs
28-10.5 et drag
the trans. needs to come out anyway for a bad leak. I have a 3800 ptc and get 4600rpm on the brake, on the street it goes through the gears very fast and I dont think it would get to the 1000ft mark with any rpm left...
I'd also go lower than you 3.73 gear if you plan on driving on the street. I swapped from 3.50's to 2.75's and my sixty foots actually improved. I was unable to hook on 3.50s
I agree on going lower with the gears too... more load = faster spool
no I have not dyno'd it, still have alot of thing to work out before that point, like pulling the trans. and getting my leak fixed, it is very bad!!!!
the car is more of a track car now but I do still have a/c and full interior, thats y this thing is 3500lbs.
In time I will build another long block and step up on the boost(only 10psi now), I'm looking for the 1000hp mark at the flywheel and would like the converter for that engine not the low hp. slug I have now...
on the spool part I go to 1/2 throttle and about 3500rpm and the w/g open, then on thr t-brake it gets full boost very quick.

I'd go less gear 3.73, I'm running a 3.50 in my 9".
3.5 gears in my 9" also and intend to run 28" tires!
145 mph, 26" tire, 10% slip, 6100 rpm: 2.82/1 rear gear
