Lifetime of a 408 w/ boost???
No oil usage. Quality hardware and a good engine builder and tuner
I reckon I got my moneys worth and it will go another 15000 miles. Engine oil changed every 2000 miles which will be even more important with the turbo's Couple of tips for your average 700RWHP plus "street" car:
1) Go iron block for longevity (No block distortion at higher hp levels compared to alum)
2) Keep the revs down (sub 6400rpms)
3) Keep the comp low (ie: 8.0:1 for 15#s boost if using pump gas)
4) Good fuel system with coolers on the lines
5) Air to air intercooling (A2W is more prone to failure on the street compared to A2A)
6) Gravity return on turbo or blower (no pump to fail)
7) Use stock fans if possible
8) Get a GREAT tuner to tune it (Tuning on a load dyno (eddy current) and lots of street tuning
9) Keep cam lift relatively low. You dont need huge lift on a blower/turbo car to make power and keeping the lift lower will lead to longer spring/lifter life.
10) Get the best tensioner bracket setup you can buy.
That is about it. I know guys with 50K miles on there setups. They change blower belts sometimes every year though many say they can go two years
