Of his two previous transactions one was for a $780 trans. he sold that he got positive feedback for it. That is a good sign. In the future look for a seller with more transactions so you can get a good feel for their integrity. A good example would be the turbo seller, 100% feedback on 249 items and a member since 1999.

Without wanting to sound pessimistic....

I could register an account, sell an item to a friend ( or friends ) who also registered new accounts, and appear to be a nice all round guy, with good feedback...

Doesnt mean any cash, or goods changed hands.

I tried to go paypal but he said I had to pay the fdees which would have cost me another $400 he said so I choose not too

There would not of been $400 fees??? I think like $15 or so as the amount is kind of large, but not $400 worth. You can also use a Paypal electronic check which I dont think costed any fees.

Paypal charge something like 4%

And Paypal isnt exactly safe either...

I recently lost on a very small transaction ( not ebay ), and whilst they agreed I was robbed, they couldnt get me my money back...
