Wastegates: dump to atmosphere or route back to DP?

Sorry to rbing back an old subjct, but I was reading my Turbo book today and remembered this topic.. Fastkat, dr.turbo is on the right track..
if you have to route the wg back to main exhaust.. it should be done 18 to 24 inches downstream of the turbine ... also keeping the merge shallow as you can.. that will reduce turbulance and help maintain a fast-spooling turbo...
