Default supercharger or turbo

what have you guys had the best results for the ls1 with, supercharger or turbos. i see a lot of guys with both. what are the benefits of each. also how much boost could i safely run thru a 408 iron block all forged internals. i was thinking about running around 12 psi.

15psi? Whoa, that's gonna be $$ just getting that to the ground.

Prepare to be yelled at by a lot of people.

I'd check the stickies at the top of the forum and also try the search function (if it is working today).

But... since I'm bored I'll give you some quick links to some helpful threads (there are some better ones out there, I just can't find them quickly enough right now).

forced induction rankings

TRT vs Procharger

There is a hell of a lot of information in this forum if you look hard enough...

The ATI ProCharger is a well proven method of going with forced induction. Order it and have it on within two weeks. I'm still not convinced there is a good turbo kit on the market. Many companies have tried to come out with a turbo kit, and many of them have taken deposits, but have gone under before getting the kits to their customers. When an oem company puts a turbo on a new car, they spend millions in R&D, the aftermarket just can't afford to do this.

Just a quick question. When you say good turbo kit are you talking reliable as far as the motor and repairs or are you talking about a company being able to come through with a kit to sell to the public without all of the b/s that goes on with companies going under? Just wondering because I will be going forced Induction in a few months

For off the shelf kit I would agree with this. Yet Speed inc has done many turbo kits and is doing just fine. The quality of work and product are top notch. So if your looking at just buying an off the shelf kit then yes a supercharger is a safe proven way to go.

EPP has a lot of experience with this, both the STS turbo and superchargers. The supercharger will whine, they all do. The STS has a lot of piping, which can be an issue. For either, you will need an intercooler.
And you will have to mod your suspension to get the power to the ground, as stated before.
Best of luck.
