Default My Cam and Boost?

Hey guys,

After buying all of my nitrous goodies, I've now decided I want to go FI. I just installed my MS3 cam 1 year ago, only a couple of hundred miles on it. I was told it would be horrible with boost, but I'm looking for your opinions. I'm not looking for a ton of boost and will probably go with an STS setup.

I'm not just looking for opinions, I need information. If this cam is horrible for boost, lemmie know why. Or 'could' it work, I just wouldn't be getting the max power out of the STS.

Thanks guys!!

oh, the MS3 specs are 237/242 .603/.609" 112* i believe

Run it and see what it does. It is probably not optimal, but it would scream on the top end.

Like bowtieman81 said, just try it. I would say the main reason it would be considered too big is because of the valve overlap and it's ground on what a 113 or something LSA. I noticed a lot of blower/turbo cams are usually around a 115 or or more LSA. I would just try that cam you have personally. If you like the way it idles and sounds just keep it. It may not be the best choice, but either way you are going to make power.

i have used 216/224 .576/.585 114 in 347's with 5-11 psi and it works really good. ms3 is good for an all out n/a set up, but i would not recomend it for a blower set up.

You won't hurt the engine, but nitrous and turbo cams are almost exactly opposite of each other. A nitrous cam should maximize exhaust flow, while a turbo cam needs a little more lsa split to reduce reversion. I have to say most of the turbo cam selections I see here are extremely conservative, however, so don't get too caught up in the "cam wars" threads. As much as I hate to agree with PSJ's posts, do a search on his name, it will give a lot of good info.

I think it will work. It might mess with the spool characteristics but as someone else said, I bet it will scream on the topend. If it won't be too much trouble swaping it later if you don't like it, I'd say give it a try.
