Default need help on what turbo cam to get and where??

First of start by saying the search is not working. With that said I now need help. I am building a 6.0/4L80 with l92/l76 setup with a GT4202R. Was wondering what would work nice with this. I was wondering should I even stick with like 98-00 stock cam.I also seen Katech had ls7 cams?? This is one area I am not good with. So any help would be greatly appreciation.

Thanks again

Our forced induction cam would work very well with your combination.

Both of these turbo cars have this camshaft. Bob

Cool! That's exactly what I'm building now except for the turbo, I have a Garrett TV hybrid... I'm going with a Comp XER281HR 232/236 .595/.598 on an 112LSA and Rhodes V Max lifters. What compression ratio you going with?

Thanks for the reply. I will def keep you in mind. You are only about 2hrs from me and both those cars put down nice #'s. Does the SS ever make it to the muncie track or allways head further north,I would really like to see it run.

Thanks again.

Thats awesome. Maybe I will hold on my build till your is done so if its bad I wont go that route lol jk. My comp. kinda open at this time, I was thinking @ 9-9.5:1. Also throwing around a stroker idea if I get some more of the mustang parts sold. I have been away from all this stuff to long so I am just trying read up on everything to see what seems to be working now. Good luck with your build.

My compression is dead on at 9.0:1 which should be good to 15 lbs without worry. I also looked at the milder XER273HR 224/230 .581/.588 on a 114 LSA , but decided to go with the Rhodes, which would help with torque down low and let the bigger cam do it's job from midrange on up... Both cams should make an easy 800 or so at the crank.

No such thing as a "cookie cutter" cam for turbo builds. Not saying that the one pictured isn't good, BUT you need to: 1) define your goal; 2) horsepower: 3) track or street or combination of street/strip?

IMO call around to some of our sponsors. Mine was spec'd out by W2W, Cam Motion ground.. 6.0L, T-400, etc, twins.. 24X/24X 64X/61X 114. Goal: 1K RWHP (obtained ). Mine is mainly track (well 99%) but still drives and sounds smooth. Bigger is sometimes better... on 8lbs of waste-gate boost (will get my **** together this year) best of 9.16 at 146 so far.

Goals, well a 4 didget # would be nice But I know 650-700hp Should be able to be done on a conservitive setup with @ 10psi I hope. The car it self should be light (@3100lb with me) so I really dont need anything crazy. I will probally run a 3:55 gear with the setup. I would like the car to be a good driver but it is not a DD more a weekend evening toy. But lead me if I am off on this. Thanks for the replys.

If you're really after much more than 650 or 700 with that combo, you should think long and hard about ditching that turbo. You will not get there with it. Even more so due to the displacement.

I kind of was worried about this. I have since the post posted it forsale and hoping to get 2 GT40 non-bb turbos,or should I go the way of a larger single?? I dont think mine would be bad but it has the 1.01a/r on it and I figure that is on the small side for the displacement on the motor. If I sell mine that gives me enough to buy the turbos and probally the piping. Thanks for the replys.

Do you plan on fabrication your own manifolds or buying a kit, two gt40's is alot of turbo to spool on a 346, a 370/383/408 would be better suited for that combination.
A large single can always work and but you are going to have to do alot of chassis modification and lose some accesories to make it fit. have you thought about your fueling and intercooling issue?

I plan just to use the 6L truck manifolds that come on the motor. I have been looking at a few kits for a 408, Had planed to rebuild this one with a rod piston combo but with the milage of the motor I was hoping to replace the whole rotating assembly. This is the kit I am looking at, its complete minus gaskets.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...6567485&rd=1,1
(sorry long link)
As far fuel its still in the air maybe 2 drop-in pumps?? probally later sump the tank. As far as intercooler I will just buy a fmic, good size but nothing to nuts. I do realize that the car will have to be modified/cut/ect to get this to work. But I think there is plenty room to do this in the mustang.

If i were you i would buy a forged shortblock from one of the forum sponsors.

Sounds like you have alot of planning to do before you should try and tackle a project of this size.....
