Default Pistons for 408ci F/I

I am having a 408 ci built for my 2003 Silverado and need to know who makes a good piston for my application? I have a 6.0 iron block .030 over, Callies Dragonslayer 4" crank & billet Oliver rods. I want to run 9:1 cr for a boosted(STS) app running 10-15psi.

In your opinion which one of those do you think is better and why? I don't want box style pistons I want full skirts if possible. Thanks

Like Cable Bandit said, they are all top quality manufacturers and can design and produce a piston for your specific application. Some are more expensive than others, Mahle has a pedigree from Formula 1, Wiseco and JE are big in Nascar. I have Diamonds in mine, they are a nice piston, met all my requirements and didn't break the bank.

Diamond or JE is all I can recommend from personal experience but I know some others out there have a good reputation for quality as well.

Thanks for the input guys. Do any of the above companies have what I need off the shelf so to speak? Special order pistons are normally more expensive plus I want them yesterday not in 2-4 weeks. I want to get this project moving.

What CC heads? What you are looking for is pretty standard fare.

I don't know the cc of the heads. The heads are from a 6.0L(LQ4) truck.

well I am running the weisco pistons 34cc dish. To get my compression on down with heads in sig it makes about 8.2 compression ration so you will probally need something like 24 cc dish.

thats a huge surprise ty_ty13. how much clearance do we need? i usualy set the heads on with no gasket and if no interference, i call it a day.

4.030 bore with 72cc heads and a -22 dish piston will be about 8.9:1(depending on your head gasket). Thats what im building right now for my car. Using a Diamond custom piston too.

remember the gasket does squish when torqued.... i have the stock valve size and heads except for some porting, new valve job and cut seats... they are 241 heads also... but ofcourse every motor is different... i cant remember all the specs like the stick out of the piston...etc.... that makes a difference

i did have to cut the original piston fly cuts wider and deeper on both intake and exhaust...

becaues of the extra fly cut radius and depth my compression is around 7.9-8.0 ... i didnt fill it with methonal but i know its right between that.

Would recommend using Diamond pistons part number 11521, -15cc piston for 4.030 bore 4.00 stroke 6.125 etc. Will put you around 9.5 compression.

Diamond also has Inboard forged pistons, designed for high boost, part number 11576, -28cc dish.

I think 9.5 cr would be to high for 15psi. Members have even said 9:1 might also be to high and to shoot for 8.5 but I would like to run the highest cr possible to have good off boost power.

A couple friends have also suggested Diamond and I have been quoted $785 for a set. Only draw back is that it will take 3 weeks to get them because they have to be custom ordered. I wanted them yesterday, lol.

Provided you have someone proficient with hptuners and use good fuels, should be using minimum 100 octane with a turbo setup for anything over base boost.

$785 I could sell you a set of Diamond IBF -28.00cc race pistons

11521-15.00 pistons are shelf stock and run $639.99

With my twin turbo build i'm going 9.44 SCR, know a few people pushing 10-1, easy way to make some power

Good choice, but I'm a little biased
