Default 317 heads

I met a guy and he says he has some 317 casting # heads that came off and escalade? I am basically wanting them to drop my compression ratio on my 99 T/A with the tti street 76 mm. Im just confused on whether all you need is that 317 casting number and that means you are getting the 71 cc chamber for the compression drop/ Will these work or where do I get the ones that will? If so do the springs and everything work well on this kind of setup or am i forced to upgrade them?

Yes the 317 6.0L heads have 71cc chambers. They will drop your compression ratio. As for changing the springs it is up to you. I would run a set of 918 springs at least. Just my opinion. The heads are a direct bolt on also. Hope that little bit of info helps.

are the 918 so the valve seals up against the head better? Then am I going to need to upgrade the timing chain cause of the extra pressure of the springs?

Thanks by the way. Im just trying to straight on this stuff before I jump into it. Ls1's are new for me. I come from a 350z and while that car handled better it definitely doesnt have the kick of a turbocharged v8.

JK...Depending upon how good they look the average price (without springs) is somewhere between $300-$400...

Also make sure that they are aluminum heads and not steel because the steel is more proned to detonation than aluminum...Just an FYI

Paid 350 shipped for mine w/ only 10 miles on them. You are going to have to run the 6.0 head gaskets w/ the 317s I just found this out and need to sell my 5.7 gaskets now.

Thats just the old law of not being able to find it when you want and the only thing you can find when you don't want it. Took me 6 months to find a set. Now thats all I see and can't find the stuff I want to buy now.
