lets discuss "the other parts" for a second here. How about a fuel pump, then you'll need lines and a regulator. Dont forget rails either. Boost/vac, fuel pressure, and $300 wideband O2 are mandatory unless you don't like your stock motor. And then your gonna be out 3700 for built one, or 1000 for a used stocker.

Another nice surprise is the cost of fittings. You will use so many fittings, boost sensor, IAT, oil feed, oil return.

And then there was the transmission it burned up by making too much power, great so now i have sweet turbo f-body that cant move itself. Another $1400 gone.

it never stops. half *** it and see what happens

I thought i could get away with an FI setup cheap...no freaking way that was going to happen...

The kit was fine...I got that for less than $3k. It's all the other crap that adds up and it does add up quite quickly. I was being nickled and dimed to death around every corner, except by nickel and dime, I mean $200 and $300 a pop. I'm practically done now, but my car will be a dyno queen, not a drag car and I've spent at least $5k now. For a "drag" car, add another $3.5k and then I could be in the mid 11s...

If you going to put something that feeds the engine at over 80K rpms and the only thing keeping it together is a film of oil and proper balancing, then I would not skimp. You do get what you pay for when it comes to turbos and wastegates. Piping, silicone...etc..etc, you can skimp to some degree. But to save 400 bucks on a turbo that can kill your $5000 or more engine is not smart building.

i dont think its worth fabbbing up your own system, you might save yourself a hundred to two hundred bucks at the end as compared to just buying a pre made kit. Plus that doesnt factor in all the pain in the *** things like running to the store to get this part, taht part etc.

If you truly are a fabricator you can make your own turbo kit, fabricator meaning welding up your own pipes, making your own headers, etc.

pay extra to get it done right the FIRST time. dont cheap out.

I 2nd that as well. I would go with an OFI kit and an S series unit. Cost effective, and will pimp smack 99% of the competition you come across.
