Here a pic of the right hand side wastegate with the auto trans fitted............. it's tight though doable..........looks good for now.

wow... not sure you can get a piece of papter in there.. Looks like it could be a problem if the trans happens to be to the right on some cars.. Also is it going to be banging into into is when you hit bumps?

The waste gate actually has around 5 mm clearance to the auto trans now and as the trans and engine is bolted together there's no way that the wastegate can make contact with the trans when going over bumps.

Hey Peter I asked about this before but I think you should try a Mccleod SFI bellhouseing with the T56. I'll take pics of mine installed later today. The only reason I say something is with the power we'll be putting down with this kit, I think anybody with this kit is going to need this bellhouseing. It looks really close right now.

Peter,
As far as fitment issues with the 4L80 goes, let me know if you need any info or pics. Mine is still sitting on the garage floor out of the car. I can get pics and measurements really easily.

All APS cast turbo exhaust manifolds are CNC machined so if you don't intend running the EGR just blank off the ports my friend.

Thanks,

Peter

Default 4L60E vs. 4L80E

I'm in the process of doing my trans conversion, so I'm trying to make sure everything will fit with this kit.

I measured from the bell housing back to the first bolt on the pan and it's ~ 9". Then I measured from the centerline of the trans over to the edge of the pan and it's about 7". I then did the same thing on the 80, and it looks as though the clearance will be the same or perhaps even a little better. It's pretty tough to say with just a measuring tape though.

EDIT: One thing that I just noticed is that the top of the pan seems to be a little bit higher. This may cause a problem, but I think things will still work out ok.

Here's some pic's

Side by side comparison:

Same area on the 4L80E:
