wow... not sure you can get a piece of papter in there.. Looks like it could be a problem if the trans happens to be to the right on some cars.. Also is it going to be banging into into is when you hit bumps?

Hey Peter I asked about this before but I think you should try a Mccleod SFI bellhouseing with the T56. I'll take pics of mine installed later today. The only reason I say something is with the power we'll be putting down with this kit, I think anybody with this kit is going to need this bellhouseing. It looks really close right now.

4L60E vs. 4L80E
I'm in the process of doing my trans conversion, so I'm trying to make sure everything will fit with this kit.
I measured from the bell housing back to the first bolt on the pan and it's ~ 9". Then I measured from the centerline of the trans over to the edge of the pan and it's about 7". I then did the same thing on the 80, and it looks as though the clearance will be the same or perhaps even a little better. It's pretty tough to say with just a measuring tape though.
EDIT: One thing that I just noticed is that the top of the pan seems to be a little bit higher. This may cause a problem, but I think things will still work out ok.
Here's some pic's
Side by side comparison:
Close up of the area in quesion on the 4L60E:
Same area on the 4L80E:
