Question How much is my car worth?

Do you guys think my asking price is unreasonable ? I'm trying to get $14,300 and I've always thought that was pretty cheap, but no bites in a few weeks!

So what is scaring people away from this car so much?

https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicles-sale-lsx-powered-only/659514-98-twin-turbo-ss-th400-bigstuff3-caged.html

I've thought about trying to finish it up but I just dont have a lot of cash, but im thinking maybe if I put on the external pick up wheel it might not be so hard to sell?

Also I'm about to lower it to 13,900 but I don't think that price is the issue, its got to be more technical resons scaring people off

I dont think the price is unreasonable at all. If I had the extra $14k I would buy it in a heartbeat. I am about $12k short.

I think the biggest part is that the price is low. Everyone see's us spend a huge amount of time and money building these cars and then we decide its time to get out of the game for a while and sell them and it scares poeple off when we price them for a sale.

Good luck. Somebody will buy it, and get a hell of a deal on a hell of a car.

problem is that highly modified cars just dont sell. People are afraid to "buy someone elses problem" especially when you state that there is already a problem from the get go. Noone wants to buy a car and imedately possibly have to pull the motor.

+1 on the problems. A good running and driving car will sell a lot better. In that condition, you would probably make out much better just parting it. Not saying this is the case for you, people often sell semi-complete projects because they are unable to complete them for one reason or another. Everyone fears it's being sold because of some insurmountable cost issue that just doesn't make it worth it unless you steal it. You'll get post after post about how something is a bad *** car for a bad *** price, and it probably is but none of those people are putting money in your hand. If it were me, I would finish it, make some big numbers with it, then sell it, or put it back to stock (as much as possible) and part out the go-fast parts.

Thats what I had to do with mine. Im putting it back to stock"ish" and sold all the go fast stuff. Parting it out I made out better and itll be easier to sell a near stock car.

I keep all my stock take offs for exactly that reason. I'm sure 30 seconds after I make this car do everything I want it to do, I'll think about selling it so I can move on to the next project. I get bored toooo easy!

Its too far gone to be put back to stock, and even more of a problem I don't have a place I can work on it right now which is a major reason for selling. I should have purchased a house BEFORE making a project car.

Well I guess I'll keep paying it down and reposting it, there must be someone who will take it when it hits 12k

who's gonna buy a car that needs to be "finished", its kinda fishy to do all that work and not get the car running properly... I would steer clear of this myself... dosent seem like its a whole lot to fix everything... and try only posting finished pics of a car for sale, at least the first pics shown should be of the current state....

You might want to consider parting it out, you have some high $$$ parts int he car easily worth 14k on their own.

I dont have a place to take it apart, also I don't have a vehicle to transport stuff and get it shipped.

That is my plan b though is to part it out though if worst comes to worst

95% of the people here dont build their own cars and most shops wont touch another 'DIY' project without charging a ton of money.

I figure I could maybe get around 18-20K for mine running and thats a very nice 34K body and a proven low 9 second 100% NHRA legal car that has been in seveal magazines and won plenty of races.

Price seems fair but you would be way better off parting it out, thats what I will do with mine when I sell it. Main problem with yours is stock rear, 98 heads and not running 100%. If the cage is done nice I would sell the roller, trans, engine, BS3 and turbo setup all seperate. If you dont want the hassle and just want it gone clench them butt cheeks and put it on eBay with no reserve..

If you decide to part it out i'm interested in the BS3.

I've seen some clean rollers with a nice cage sell for 4-5k figure 3-4 for your motor, 1-1500 fot trans, 4-5k for the turbo and some extra $$$ for the BS3, you could end up selling for more than 14,000

If I had a good place to part it out that would probably be my best plan, I should put together a excel sheet and figure out what I would have to sell stuff for and what kind of a loss I can expect.

Since you asked for feedback...
1) Your pictures really suck. You have shots of a dirty trunk with junk next to the fuel pumps. Your first pic in your ad here is a pic of the engine with no intake on it. What you should do is redo all of your pictures, after detailing the car. You need to detail the car, and then take 2-3 shots of the car overall, and then 7-9 pics of the engine, inside, and trunk.

2) You need to put a carpet back in, you need to touch up paint where needed, and make the car have more curbside appeal.

3) You need to make the car at least make 600rwhp to turn heads and get some calls.

I think your price is low but with how you are presenting the car you are not going to capture the $15-20K audience.

Look at how Nine Ball sells cars, he takes a ton of good pictures after cleaning the cars up. If I sold my Formy, I'd do what he does.

Well I can do all of that stuff except go make 600, to do that I gotta get my external pick up wheel and fix the coolant lines at a minimum. Other than that 600 is a walk in the park, it made close to that when it died off at 5k rpm last time, and it was over 600lb/ft torque.

I wonder how much carpet and a dash would cost? I could install that stuff pretty ******* easy if I really wanted to, only hard part is cutting the dash around the cage and gluing the back pieces in place after the dash is in.

Well thanks for the advice guys, I lowered the price to $13,900 and I'll start looking for interior at local junk yards.
