Default Vortech hood rape?

After looking at the manuel for the vortec supercharger kit for my 2000 ss, I am horified at the amound of cutting that I will have to do to my hood. the kit makes me have to cut my hood so that it makes my ram air useless; which is something I was looking forward to having with the kit. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can avoid or am I just screwed into buying anothe hood and having it painted.

Yah, what he said. You'll be SUCKING air once you go FI, so don't worry about RAM air. Main thing you want to do is ensure that you've got the filter someplace cool... or is this system plumbed to the stock airbox?

uummmm.. yeh it would look nice for you to keep your 'scoop' on your ss hood...i thought the kits kept the scoop??

but what purpose would it serve as functional? you have forced induction

keeps the external scoop, however you have to cut up the internal airpassages to get everything to fit...

lets be honest really do we think those do that much in the first place?

I understand they dont do that much interms of horsepower I just did not want to cut my hood up so that it totally removed that function of the hood.

also, yes it know it will forcing air into the motor anyways, but it would have been trick to have the ram air feeding into the air box supplied with the kit.

Buy a 2nd hood if you want. The SS hood never really helped much with ram air. TByrne used to have good pics of where he cut. I think he painted the cut areas too.

feeding the ram air into the air box with the FI kit? meaning feeding air ONTO the air box or INTO the air box? b/c you would never make boost if you tried feeding the ram air INTO the air box, you would bleed all boost to the atmosphere

The vortech pulls it's air from the stock airbox.
