Im curious how it would spool also. Im building a 383 for a 3rd gen Camaro.

Please dont flame. Please???

the EVO guys are just getting into this. its REALLY works for them! i think one manifold fabricator said it can help anything from 100-500rpm! depends on the application of course! lol

DrTurbo, just confirming the info we spoke about on the phone......you have a tracking number for the ST80 1.1 housings, and they are due in Wednesday the 20th...and the complete units will be in the mail the next day or two after that? Right?

I have been waiting patiently since May 26th for mine!!! While I'm sure it is worth the wait, it is the last part I need for a quick makeover!

DR... I bought my PT88 from you guys and am just now getting it all together. It seems laggy and the housing is larger then I would like (Not bitching here so dont flame, I got what I paid for) there wasn't another option for that kind of power for my setup...

Is the housing of the ST80 smaller then the PT88?

Are the housings different sizes... between the 74, 76, 78, 80?

With the race cover, the ST80 is rated at ~1400hp but the PT88 is larger and only rated at 1250hp. But yet your saying the ST80 will spool faster and produce more power then the 88?

Any idea how much faster?

I am trying to debate if the swap is worth the $...

Thanks!!

I'm also interested in this info for if I upgrade from the 76 to the 80 mm wheel in the future.

I wonder if the ST80 is a direct bolt on with my TTI RAce Kit. Currently I have a 76GTQ.......hmmmm, but nothing is ever a direct Bolt on with FI.....hah!

That is correct guys. All the ST units have all been fully CNC'ed and are ready for shipping. Unfortunately the turbine housings from BWA were the wrong flange T6, and not T4 as ordered. So we are expecting the shipment of housings this week and ALOT of ST units will be leaving. We also have a new turbine wheel coming out as an option for these units in the next 3 weeks. Under testing it lowered backpressure on a 408 Windsor by about 18lbs at 18lbs of boost. It was worth quite a few ponies

The difference between the 76GTS and the ST80 have been within 100rpm of each other on 350 +ci engines. I don't think you could notice unless its logged and plotted.

Divided housings work awesome when a kit is designed around the housing. Unfortunately the time it takes to run each individual runner to enhance engine pulses on a V8 would be a very big chore, and I don't think the gains would be worth it. Our motors spin the turbos out of shear volume. A small motor now can take advantage of this since packaging is easier and engine pulses are proven to help spool. The ST series units have been working great on the small motors they have been tested on so far, so proper runner design can only improve on this.

Yes a PT88 is somewhat laggy on a rear mount setup. The PT88 is just not designed to operate out of its efficiency, since its turbine map is very narrow and the unit is heavy by design internally. As for the sizes, we have taken pictures of the PT88 vs an ST series units for all you guys asking. I will have them posted by Monday. You guys can then compare visually and see the differences. You will probably be very suprised.

An ST80 compressor wheel will flow 121lbs/min even with the largest housing this means it will flow close to 1350-1390 under the best peak efficieny. Remember EVERY turbo made by EVERY manufacture it rated at peak flow under highest peak efficiency. The turbine side on a PT88 is much larger then a ST series unit. The ST series unit is only a touch larger then a GTS turbine wheel. This turbine wheel is designed to fill in the gap between a PT88 and 76GTS. With that being said turbine wheel technology and comp wheels can only go so far, and can not bandaid an improper setup. You stick a ST80 on a 450ci engine and it will choke like a rock, so they aren't magic. As for your setup, the ST will DEFINITELY outspool a PT88 and will make close to the same exact power as a PT88. But what you will gain is driveability...and that is the most important factor. You can take a supra with 1500rwhp, but its not a drivers car...know what I mean? I personally think you will be VERY happy with an ST80. It will kick some major @$$.

The comp wheel on the ST80 will actually outflow the 88mm TV wheel used by so many out there. But flow is also determined by turbine. If you put both units on a smaller ci engine, the ST80 will outspool it, outpower it......across the board. If you place it on a large ci engine then the ST80 still outspools it easily, but now the power bridge narrows due to exaust pressure elavating to equalize the output.

I am watching these puppies closely.. I am running a ITS 76MM DBB X-trim on my Supra now.. Getting a 4L80E built for my MKIV as we speak at a local transmission shop. I might have to go into the motor of my 2JZ to support this ST80

My current turbo looks a little small right about now..

Will the ST80 choke a 383?
