did't get much done for the last two days, late starts and then some hospital time for a child w/allergic reaction. Today was better, got the heads on, cam in, put a new work cart together, finished painting the water pump and rocker covers, installed the roll pins on the crank, and marked out the area to cut for the blower; I got pics of that too. Here's what i got so far:

and more:

Sorry for the wierd camera angles the camera guy was trying to work around me and stay out of the way.

For anyone that is wanting to do the magnacharger mod here is the cowl cutting that is required. The area to be cut away is the white area marked with the stencil supplied from Ed @ LM Speed and the panel that get welded back in. Pay attention to the photos, the area really isn't that big and gets covered completely by the plastic trim so you won't see it unless you get down and REALLY look for it.

That's it for now. More to come so stay tuned.

Great build thread!

Why did you go with the 243 head casting?

I talked with Ed extensively before ordering anything, and was actually considering the Trick Flow heads, but they weren't going to give me a very boost friendly compression ratio, 64cc combustion chambers, so he told me about some heads that he sells that were half the price of the Trick Flows and would give me a more boost friendly compression ratio, they were stock GM castings, his supplier worked over a pair of the newer 243's with 72cc combustion chambers and said that they'll flow over 305cfm at .600 lift, they just have 72cc combustion chambers instead of 76, and I used some GM MLS gaskets, .058, to help keep the compression low.

Ya, I think I just had a change of heart...
How much did the charger kit cost? I have everything else ready including almost identical 243 heads.

You act like stock rockers suck or something. When in fact 98% of the people on this board even with FI use them that I have seen.

it is the lm speed kit so yea the kmember will be lowered but its only like 3/4" maybe 1" at most. I was very intrested in this kit when it first came out but had my doubts and so far i am very impressed...we just finished cutting the cowl and it really is not that much that you cut off the car...and the big chunk that does come off is under the cowl

I think that LM Speed sells the kit now for around $6200. Look up any post from Ed@LateModelSpeed and it's in his sig.

Yea there are spacers in his kit they are 3/4". No matter what you do or how you look at it the only real way to tell its moved is by looking physically at the k- member where the spacers are. I cannot tell its lowered that little bit.
