Default high iats during normal driving?

I have an sts kit with a 67mm turbo.. I just got everything back together and seen that my iats are around 106 while driving at about 70mph and about 120 while driving around 20...

When I had the turbo on before the temps were around ambient.. The cold side of the turbo is hot. I dont remember if it use to get hot or not. This is also w/o going into boost.

The subframe pipe does not feel hot but not cool either. The pipe going to the throttle body is very hot. And again the turbo is very warm.

Only thing I can think of is that somethings wrong with the turbo. I took it apart to check and clean everything and didnt see anything I thought was wrong.

How much are the parts to rebuild these things?

My IAT's tonight were hanging around 80* degree's cruising around town. I got in and out of boost a few times but didnt really notice any big changes in the temps. I would guess it was 65-70* degrees out tonight. I would check the sensor to make sure everything is cool there to. How old is the turbo?

I checked the sensor with another one and it seems ok.. The turbo has about 7000 total miles on it.

Hmmm. The compressor side of the turbo will get warm but shouldnt get super hot. Is your STS kit have a FMIC? I dont really know why all the sudden the temp would be going up.

I'm not sure how the cold side is routed on the LS1 kit, but on my LT1 kit, the intake tubing comes extremely close to the exhaust manifold. After a long drive, the intake tubing is pretty warm near the throttle body. If the LS1 has a similar setup, maybe some insulation in that area would help.

It seems to be the pipe that runs up into the engine bay. I checked the temps with a head gun and everything is around ambient except the last pipe going to the tb.. I thoiught it would cool off more while driving around and cool air would get into the engine bay but a guess not...

even with an intercooler looks like this will heat up the air at that point.. Are any of you guys wrapping that pipe?

You do realize that the cold side tubing comes up right in front of fan #1, it's blowing hot air directly on the piping. I'm thinking about changing it so that the other fan will be my primary.

Yes thats what im saying.. Looks like even after the intercooler it installed that pipe is still going to get hot. I thought the air would pass by that small portion quick enough that it would raise the temp so high.. guess not..

Good thinking.. I will change my fan today and see what happens. I just dont remember seeing anyone else getting temps as hot as I am.. My motor temps are around 170-180 and the temp outside is 70..

Im hooking up the meth today. Temps under wot get to around 165 in 3rd and 140 in 2nd.. Im going to get the intercooler just as soon as i get everything worked out and wrap the exhaust..
