What other precautions should be taken into consideration when coming to that borderline level of boost between safe on the LSX and above? If the P-1 will bring ~415rwhp (numbers attained from a beginning post in thread) what will the D-1 put out on a bone stock motor? I am going to browse a little deeper into EPP's site to see if I can answer these questions for myself and try not to look like a fool for not lurking enough before posting.

In summary, difference between the P-1 and D-1. yes the D flows more thats a given but shoot some hp numbers out there. What is a "safe" level of boost to throw at the vehicle and does the D-1 exceed that to the point where the P-1 would be a better choice?

*I hope I haven't hijacked the thread only attempted to furthur the knowledge of myself and the original poster.*
Nope, you can run the D-1SC at 8 psi, which is safe on the stock bottom end. 8 psi is about 140 rwhp extra over stock.
Many years ago we put a D-1SC on my '99 z28 when the engine had 110,000 miles on it. Here is a link to it.

420rwhp seems kind of low even for a P1SC. My P1SC @ ~7-8psi put down 454 with bone stock engine and exhaust manifolds. With headers I got 489 @ ~6-7psi.

Don't waste your $$ with a P1SC. Get a D1 from the start and you will have some room to grow (which you will want after a little bit). My P1SC is all but maxed out now. If I had bought my kit new I would have got a D1 in a heartbeat. Its only like $200 upgrade up front. If you change your mind later, it will cost you over $1300 and down time. Do it right the first time and get the D-1SC 8 rib kit from Bob and never look back.

Man, I'm sold. Thanks for the links; I did find the customer rides but I had not seen the 110,000 mile z28. The mileage on that car with the power it made on the stock valves is wonderful. Looks like I need to look for a little line of credit, any idea if I could get a PM with a price "on the rim and out the door" if I shipped the car to you guys so I know what I'd be looking at?
