Default Question i never see asked....not enough restriction

Everyone talks about too much oil for the turbo.Itll push out the seals, itll smoke, causes other issues.when and how do you know if you dont have enough oil going through the turbo?i just followed a mods advice on here using like a nitrous jet drilled .030,but how do you know if you have enough oil going through the turbo?

When it squeaks and stops spinning.....yeah not enough oil going to that bad boy.

All kidding aside tho,

I just restricted mine enough for the smoke to go away, drilled a N2O jet out with a .109 drill bit, no more smoke show.

So start big and go down in size until you have no more smoke. I didn't want to restrict mine too much either thats why I started where I did....don't have enough money to buy turbo after turbo

I wouldn't go any lower than a .060 myself, but thats just me.

i think its something like 15 psi of oil they need? So if you can hook up a guage to your feed line right at the turbo that should tell you. I'm personally running a .030 atm with my twins but i have a scavenge set up so it doesnt drain as well as a gravity set up so i need the lesser oil. Hope this helps! I think you'll be fine where you are... Also if your concerned to see exactly how much oil the turbo is getting, go up to Home Depot and in the plumbing section by the brass fittings (might be different at your store) i picked up 10 feet of clear vinyl 5/8" hose (-10an) and hooked that up so i could actually watch to see how well my turbos were draining, how much oil, etc. Just something temp but its cool to watch it.

I've run .016 jets on turbos with no problem. As long as you have good oil pressure behind the jet, you should be fine.

Basically, run as big a jet as you can run without smoke.

with the 5/8 line and no restrictor the line was pretty much totally full draining out of the turbo. I have it about half full right now.... maybe a hair less than half draining out, hope this helps! The clear line is trick!
