cam effects on turbo spool?

cam effects on turbo spool? I am looking for some thoughts on the effcts of cam selection and turbo spool my thinking would be that lower lsa with more exhaust duration would be better for spool is this correct or am i missing something?

Very good question.
I've run a Lingenfelter GT2-3 and a custom reverse split turbo cam on my TTi setup, and what I notice the most able the larger custom cam is carries power much higher in the power band.
As for spool - it's really hard for me to say as I switched from a manual transmission to an automatic so the spool is near instant now.

I would assume that if you have a higher LSA/low amounts of overlap... it would spool faster cause instead of bleeding the pressure out its ran through the exhuast to spin faster... that would be my guess.

Advancing the cam will help a bunch in spool-up as it will move your powerband lower in the rpm range, producing more exhaust flow sooner. I've jad to advance some cams (on non-lsx apps) up to 6* in order to get turbos with massive exhaust housings to spool on the street
viseversa, I've retarded cams to get smaller turbos to spool later in order to reduce stress on the rotating assembly (factory bottom ends)

Best thing to do is find a calculator for dcr that shows you what the valve events are when you move things around.
Advancing the cam does- move intake and exhaust opening sooner. EO sooner as stated hotter gas hitting the turbine. Intake sooner = higher cyl press since the IC is sooner trapping more volume.
widen the lsa does - IO later and EO sooner.
IO later = more rev, less reversion
