I think they just cut it to fit nice and snug and then glue around the edges. gorilla or heavy duty plastics glue would work.
Still looking for some insight on how to cut off the end tanks. I found a 19x12x4 intercooler but the tanks point in the wrong direction so I'd like to just build my own.
