Im thinking about getting 3:42's what do you think Jeff?

3.73's vs 3.42's won't matter a whole lot for you, up to you. Only problem for you would be if your combo needs to be shifted at like <6200 or something.

i have 3.73's in my turbo car and hate them.
run out of gear way to fast in the 1/4, and i am running a 7100rpm readline
its going to suck even more once the Th400 goes in. that was on a 26" tire, Im hoping a 28" tire will help a little better, but doubt it till i get a different rear end with a lower gear ratio, probably shoot for a 3.23ish range.

I'll bet you become very familiar with mr. rev limiter due to converter slip once you go auto.

I've had both 6spd and auto experience with gear changes.
4.10's and 6spd to 3.42's, car was WAY more drivable, spooled faster and faster at the track.
3.50's to 2.75's with the TH400, car was WAY WAY more drivable, spooled WAY faster and WAY faster at the track, my 60's improved due to less wheelspin.

I have 373's M6 in mine and for a street car they work great. alot of guys on here only care about the 1/4 and most have autos. go with the 373's if they don't work for you then change them

I am not a reaguar at the tracks as I don't have all the proper saftey equipment, but I do use that as a base to know how the car is performing on the street and to know when I run someone on the street if we went a full 1/4 pass or what. The 3:73 were great at the 600rwhp, but above that level I would have to recomend something a little taller. I hear what PSJ is saying about there not being any big difference, but I could tell the difference by the seat of the pants ,but it may not have been a difference on the track times though. If you have the 3:42's I'd try them or just leave the 3:73's and change them when you actually have some seat time.
JM_BLOWNWS6-with your 9inch I would run the 3:27 gears to start with JMO if I had a 9" thats where I would start. Since they don't make a 3:23 for a 12 bolt I opted for the 3:08's.

im going back to 2.73's (free) from 3.73's.. traction is non existent with my current setup 3600vig, full boltons/tune and 3.73's

and when i get my turbo kit installed (already purchased and in-rout to my house, so im not just dreaming lol) its really going to suck on the street.. i want something fast on the steet aswell as the track, i dont want to have to run slicks everywhere i go for decent traction lol.. if i loose .1-.2 tenths of a second in the quarter from the gear swap, but gain alot more traction on the steet then its worth it since im a DD..

also my gas mileage should be better especially on the interstate..

I have just swapped from 3.7 gears to 2.75 gears to try control my set up a bit better and I love the change. Pulls harder without blowing the tires off instantly. Drives great. I have Single turbo with a turbo 400 in 3700lb car.
