Default Building some v6 turbo headers

Well I picked up a little v6 car for an LSx build but decided to put together a set of headers for a gentleman that wanted the engine. He is building his own kit but wanted a little help making the ball of snakes fit on the sides of the engine so I volunteered. Got the drivers side done and will hopefully finish up the passenger side in the next couple of days. I'll tell ya the V6 guys have it right when it comes to room under the hood!

The drivers side header pictured below installs fairly easily but it does require moving the dipstick tube out of the way or removing it and snaking it between the primaries. Once installed, there is plenty of room around the plugs and wires and plug changes should be even easier than stock. I will say I HATE removing those stock v6 manifolds and the 37 heat shield pieces you have to take off to get them out. I almost broke out the torch but refrained with the help of Budweiser and Sawsall (just one stripped nut on the head shield )! Enjoy!

Those look pretty good. You could probably sell some over at FTV6.

It was fun

Are you planning on selling any forward facing headers in the future? go on fullthrottlev6.com and post these up in the FI section they look sweet.

Built the passenger side header this weekend. It's a little tighter on the passenger side than before so the header is a little different. But it came out pretty clean. It was interesting snaking the collector through the heater hoses. On the last couple of pics, it looks pretty tight but there is actually about 3/8s of an inch between the heater hose and the collector. At worst, he might have to put a little exhaust wrap or a sleeve on the hose. Sorry the pics look like crap. Still using the trusty ol camera phone! I need to bite the bullet and get a nice camera but I never think about it until I'm building something.

That is correct, they are not symmetric. The drivers side comes at a steeper angle. It needed to in order to provide more compressor housing clearance and the passenger side header had a clearance issue with the heater hose lines which prevented me from matching the angle. Plus the area to work in was not symmetric! Gone are the days of having enough room to make a matching twisted ball of snakes because you could stand in the engine bay to change plugs...

Did you try to fit in the spark plug wire? Hopefully that won't make it PITA. They look very good and I DEFINITLY will PM you next week.

I'll see if I can snap a couple pics from under the car. The plugs will be a simple change and there is plenty of clearance for wires but they will not follow stock routing. The headers themselves install in about 15 minutes with everything out of the way. Having put headers on an LT1 fbody before, these are pathetically easy to install.

Thanks guys! I got the majority of the ypipe put together tonight. Still waiting on flanges but they will get here tomorrow and I can finish her up! It looks close to the throttle body but it's really quite a bit of space there.

looks nice....yah my passanger side header is almost touching my coolant line also...so i heat wraped both of them and havent had any problems.

your gonna want to design some kind of support bracket from the Y pipe or the turbo...once those heat up and get a few hundred miles on them, they will wanna sag a little bit and eventually crack.
