Question Anyone Used or Using a Master Power GT-45??

I was just looking for info/results about the unit. I remember a short while back (mid 05) that Master Power had the hot hand in the turbocharger world. I know for a good while, their T-70 was the hot set-up for a multitude of Mustang kits. Haven't heard much about them lately (I remembera few threads where people had a hard time getting repirs/replacement parts).
The little bit of info I have found about the GT-45 sounded promising. Just curious about real world experiences with said unit.
TIA

A friend of mine has one on his 72 Maverick with a 302 in it and has worked fairly well for him. He has gone through 3 motors now and has never had any problem with the turbo. I keep telling him to throw a LSx motor in the car and not have to worry about blowing it up lol

The GT45's are bastard units and parts are a PITA to get. Also they are laggy turbos for only a 66mm unit.

Interesting, as I respesect the thoughts/ideas/opinions of you and Jose.
With the above in mind, is this an un-reliable unit? Has it needed to be repaired/replaced within a short amount of usage?

I am using one in my Nova project, it was recommended by Jose@FI but I dont think he would recommend it now. I wish I would have gone bigger (76-80). I am going to max this one out on a forged 370 with a LS6 cam only and see what it does then upgrade from there.

I'm trying to find some real world users of the unit as I'm contemplating it (along with sveral others) for use on my 05 GTO turbo set-up.
I googled and found several older post by Jose (Forced Induction.com guy) where he spoke highly of it. But his recent reply to my post on LS1GTO seemed to be just the opposite. If I get a Master Power unit, it will be a GT45 or a T70. Kinda worried that the T-70 may not be enough turbo.
Not looking for much more then 600 RWHP at the present time. Though I'm sure I'll put better internals in the motor in the next year or so. Then I'm sure I'll want more turbo. Kinda hoping that the GT45 would fit into my current plans but allow for growth in the future.
I'm tryingto stay under $900 on whichever turbocharger I use. Maybe I'll look more into 76GTS of some sort.

The S400 is very nice for the price but they are a bitch to package. Stock 74mm units with the 1.32 A/R can be had for around 600 shipped brand new if you know where to look. Lag will be almost identical to the 76GTS within 1-200 rpm. Plus they are very upgradable for just a few more bills.

Go over to Theturboforums and search GT45 and S400 as there are a lot of mustang guys running both of these units. More success with the s400 it looks like. Most of the guys say that the gt45 works ok on a 347 or smaller engine as it doesnt quite flow enough with the 68.9 compressor wheel to support big power (700+) on a engine larger than 347.

Yeah I know about them. Dave from Majestic has a special running on them right now. He has them in 1.10 A/R but they are all T6 foot prints. He sells a S400 kit (flange, gaskets, T-Bolts and all) to convert to a S400 T6. Not sure I want to do that (or if it will fit) though it is an option on the table.
Like I said in my previous post, I've been contemplating several. Just trying to keep my total cost for everything at $4500. $2750 in so far and I'm a turbo and fuel injectors away from having everything.

agree with Mr Stone up there. the S400 is the only turbo to buy, for the price.mine was $590 shipped, (majestic turbo) and it flows a ton! supposed to be good for up to 1000 crank hp, and you can upgrade to a 80mm for like $250 i think? Then its good for 1200hp. Like said though, its freakin big, T6 flange but it fits and has a very good spoolup too.
Oh, and the sound it makes is like no other turbo ive ever heard, its sweet, and LOUD

From the things I've read around the internet the S400 is hard to beat for the cost.

The stock S400 is hard to beat for the cost, but its laggy. The standard unit without modifications compared to a 76GTS is going to lag well more then 100-200rpms more. Also the older posts were when MP use to build good stuff and stood behind it. They hung several large dealers out to dry with 6+ month waits for warranty work and turbos that started leaking oil from startup. That is when the tide changed....

I like the S400, just don't know if it will fit the kit I have without major surgery to the hot piping.
