Default Dyno tune on Monday, want to guess RWHP and RWTQ?

Hello everyone. I have a 94 Z28 auto that I bought back in April. The car was bone stock, with only 34,000 miles on it when I bought it; it even had the original stock tires. Has 35,500 now.

As soon as I got the car home I started modding it. I finally finished doing everything I’m going to do to it, besides a trans cooler, and sent it to MC Racing in Kansas City (http://www.gomcracing.com/) for the headers, high flow cat, gears, injectors, and dyno tune. I dropped the car off on Monday and they got started on Tuesday. After waiting on some parts to come in and doing the installs, the car should be ready to dyno tune on Monday or Tuesday.

So, as you can imagine, after all the work and waiting, it’s killing me to finally see what kind of numbers it will be putting down on the dyno. In about 1 to 2 weeks after I pick up the car I will also be taking the car to the track to see how it does in the ¼. This will all be done on the tires mentioned below. I would use drag radials, but I am afraid of breaking something.

Believe it or not, I actually have no idea what to expect on the numbers, what do you think? It seems like there are a lot of experienced people on the forum who may have a pretty close idea. I am curious to see what everyone thinks. Please post what you think the RWHP and RWTQ will be. This may be a long shot, but throw in a guess on the ¼ mile times if you would like.

As soon as I get the numbers back from the dyno tune next week, I will post them to see who got the closest. I will also post ¼ mile times in a couple of weeks.

Thanks!
Chris

They will be using a Dynojet chassis dyno, model 248.

Is it me or do these numbers seem slightly low? Numbers dont lie..but only 60+-whp gain on those mods including a supercharger running 8lbs of boost? I woulda put it closer to maybe 425-450?

Well that would be the case if it was an Ls1, but in this case its an LT1...

They are putting around 260-280 i believe...

So he actually got about 100 hp give or take!

Although at 8psi it should have been a little higher than that... But not looking to shabby for an LT1!!!!

Plus the blower is about the only power adder he did!

Lets see it run at the track, Im willing to bet his track number is better than his HP and TQ numbers are showing!

Thanks!!

The 94 lt1's are actually only about 230rwhp stock (275hp at the crank), so i gained about 136hp at the rear wheels. That's a little over a 59% hp gain, so I'm pretty happy with the numbers.

Would have been higher with a LS1 of course.

You need to let the exhaust breathe on that thing! I bet it sounds good but Flowmasters suck at being the "masters" of flow!

Throw a nice cam in there also and you'll be over 400!

Yeah, I agree with you on the Flowmasters. I had Borlas on my 98 SS, I might go with those. Would be nice to find someone to trade with, but I doubt I'll find anyone.

I also thought those numbers seem kind of low but after I added it up it is right on target. This is by no means a formula to live by due to backpressure, camshaft selection, dynojet, etc, but it gets surprisingly close most of the time.

(rwhp) / 14.7 X (amount of boost) + (rwhp) = ......
230 / 14.7 X 8 + 230 = 355rwhp. That adds up about right!

I agree on the flowmasters. I'd ditch them but if they sound good, throw in a cutout. Should be fun for ya, for a few weeks anyway. You'll be throwing more boost at it before you know it.

I took my car to Tri State Raceway in Earlville, IA today and ran my car for the first time in the 1/4. So, as promised for the people who followed this thread, here’s my best run of the day. I only got to run 4 times and my time improved every time I ran, so I think I would have ran just a little quicker if I would have had more runs to adjust my driving. Before you give me too hard of a time and say that I should have ran faster, keep in mind that a stock 94 LT1 auto usually only runs about 14.5 in the quarter. So, with my only real power mod being a Procharger with 8lbs of boost, a 1.752 ¼ mile time increase isn’t too bad.

As you can see below (I was in the left lane), my best run was a 12.748 at 110.39mph.

Here’s the video of my best run.
