Default -25cc dish to much w/ 71cc combustion chambers

I'm about to rebuild my short block for boost and found a member on here who wants to sell this for $1100 shipped:

Brand new never used or opened
Eagle 4340 H Beam Connecting Rods 6.125 -
Wiseco Boost Pistons -25cc 3.905 bore -
Wiseco ringset -
LS1 Crankshaft, polished -

My only concern is that I have aluminium 317s (71/72cc chambers). Is my final compression ratio going to be below 8:1? Should I go with this deal?

depending on thickness of your gasket , .050 thick gasket gives u roughly a 7.66-1 compression ratio.

Excuse the novice boosted question.. but with modern day tuning.. why can't you run a 7.XX to 1 blower motor and a large amount of boost?

lack of low end power?
tuning/starting issues?

you can, but with modern day tuning....we do it with relatively high CR's instead, and make more power everywhere.

You would need a .040 headgasket and 58cc heads to get 8.5:1. There are alot of people selling great flowing milled heads in the 58-62cc range you could get fairly cheap.

I am using the -25cc pistons in my 370 and I am using 65cc chambered heads with a comp of 8.7:1 just to give you an idea.

IMO

I would go with Diamond 11503 -8.6 cc dish, 71cc heads and MLS gaskets.

I'm over stocked on -15 Diamond pistons (p/n 11517 370ci pistons) I could give anyone here a deal if you chose to go Iron block.

Thanks guys, just found a great deal on a low milage 02 motor. I'm going to use the money to get that and get my car back on the road, then I'll have an extra block sitting here to build a boost motor out of. I would love to have a 382 w/ some 225 AFRs.

A little nitrous to help spool up would not hurt either

Sorry to bring up a old thread but I am confused. Here is a link to Wiseco who advertises a compression ratio of 8.4 to 1 with 72cc heads. What gives?
