Post ??? For you OFI owners

I’m ready to buy something now and I have read most every thread about OFI and I’ll leave it at that.

Keep in mind I’m a noob to FI . I have a forged 347, all bolt on’s, suspension, etc. and do a best of 10.7 at 125 so far N/A. I will have about 9.1:1 CR and an undetermined cam at this point (open to suggestion on that one too). My goal is simple, I want low 9’s in a 3400 pound car.

What turbo choice would be the “best” for me, mix of street and track (mostly track)? How would the S76 or S78 in a T-6 work with my setup, how about the ST76 or ST78 in a T-4 flange?, or should I just stick with the 76GTS? I really don’t know what will even fit on the kit, so I can use some help there.

I don’t have power steering or ABS anymore so those two things won’t be in the way. Any other fitment issues besides the plug wires?

Feel free to give your over all opinion on the “kit” itself and the install. All info is much appreciated before I make the plunge .

Dan

for low nines in a 3400lb car a T76gts will be a little harder to get there with that turbo.
you could do it with a t4 flanged PTE88 or either a t4 or T6 flanged S78 or larger.
with a 346 you can stick with a t4 flange, no biggie, if you get bigger like in the 36X range a t6 flange would work better for you.

Thanks smokinHawk, that's good info!

I don't have plans to do it soon, but I will eventually go 402 CI or bigger, would it be Ok to do a T-6 on the 347", or just upgrade to the t-6 later on?

Hopefully some of the other OFI folks will pop in here and drop their .02

lets keep sponser bashing problems out of this post, if you have dealings with them of problems take it to PMs or post it in the right section

as for going to a bigger cubes later, a T6 on a 346 wont hurt you, so id just get that now then.

I bought a set of headers from Joel a while back. Had to wait for them, but you'll have to wait anywhere you buy a front mount set up. I'm pretty pleased with the quality and fit, although there is a tube too close to the coil pack on the driver's side. Luckily I've got a set of truck coils I can use, which move the coil and plug wire away. I should be testing the limits soon.

Could be that I haven't, search button may not have showed everything. Don't turn this into an OFI bashing though please, as far as I can see, everything had been resolved on all matters. If you have personal experience with them, feel free to educate me via a PM so the thread doesn't get locked! I have not committed to buying anything at this point.

Back on topic please...

Try to look up what Kyle did with his S turbos.

I don't remember the specifics anymore but I believe he went from an S76 or GT-42 76 to an S88 and he saw retarded improvements and might have hit low 9s...or at least the car hit low 9s

Cool, I'll do a search for it .

Another question for you all, would air to air or air to water be better?

either one will work well if sized accordingly, for colder temps the a2w will come on top, an a2a will beat the a2w in simplicity sake and cost.
